Song of the Jred

The Song of the Jred is a Psionic resonance that can be heard in the presence of a Jred collective. The song can be heard by psionically gifted individuals and anyone who has been afflicted with a Jred Spore Infection. Those who have heard it can only describe that it is extremely alien, as the collective conciousness sings with a nearly perfect harmony that can change on a whim. It is known that the Song of the Jred changes dramatically depending how many Jred organisms come into contact with each other, and more importantly, what organisms are part of the conciousness. When a Jred sophont is involved, the conciousness appears to try and make contact with humanity, however it is still incomprehensible by any human means.
Currently, a few organizations such as L'Institutul per la Ricerca Psionica, the Galactic Surveyor's Guild, and Planetary Expeditions are working to decode the Song of the Jred in order to understand what Jred organisms are saying to one another, and possibly what the Jred are saying to humans. The more optimistic believe that if the language can be decoded in a time of relative quiet, a new future where Jred and Human can live alongside one another in peace. More cynical people still maintain that this is an impossibility and are seeking an advantage in understanding how the Jred communicate in order to predict the more dangerous worldminds, and disrupt Jred communication in order to better destroy them. For both however, progress remains extraordinarily slow as even the best computers have only made the most basic inroads into understanding the Song of the Jred.
