Wendigo Contagion

A magical contagion that may be an offshoot of lycanthropy and also known as the curse of endless hunger. Some very deranged individuals see the wendigo contagion as a blessing and gift from the primal god of cold and hunger Ithaqua.

Symptoms

The first symptom is the feeling of hunger that grows into a feeling of starvation that no matter how much someone eats and eats the hunger won't go away. The infected will then start to fill the craving for human flesh as they fill and see their body waste away as they get hungrier and hungrier. At this point of the contagion if the infected has not been treated through a magic curse removal the infected will either die from malnourishment or the infected will give into the flesh cravings and turn to cannibalism. After turning to cannibalism, the curse of the wendigo has become irreversible the infected's mind will degrade into a more animalistic state with an uncontrollable craving for flesh.

Hosts & Carriers

A carrier of the Wendigo contagion will look very sickly and malnourished being very thin and bony however despite their frail looking bodies they are not weakened. The carrier will also have the ability to transform into a full wendigo form that has great strength, speed and endurance that greatly surpasses that of a human.

History

The wendigo contagion was created by the primal god of hunger Ithaqua. Well, most see the Wendigo contagion as a curse some see it as a blessing and will intentionally infect themselves with the wendigo contagion one group that does this are the Bone Dancers that see the wendigo curse as a blessing and rite of passage. Well, the wendigo may give the infected endless hunger and madness it also gives superhuman strength and speed.

In most cultures the Wendigo contagion is seen as a curse and any wendigo are usually hunted and killed as monsters. However, some truly depraved individuals or cultures find the wendigo as a blessing from the primal gods.
