Stone Dogs

Structure

The Stone Dogs are led by a council of chiefs that gather together from all the Stone dog villages to decide on issues that may affect the entire tribe. However individual Stone dog villages are led by an elected chief, who is selected after the death of the previous one and rules until his death.

Culture

A relatively peaceful tribe despite them casually eating the flesh of their enemies. Formed in the aftermath of the great Confluence event they have weathered wars, plagues and famine since, and seem prepared to continue.   The Stone dogs' social structure is that men and women are encouraged to pursue any tasks they wish as long as it benefits the tribe. This communal outlook is a result of their early history where they had to work together to ensure the group's survival.   Cannibalism and eating the flesh of their enemies isn't an everyday practice in the tribe. It is usually employed as a display of power over their enemies or when famine threatens.

Assets

The Stone dogs are extremely good at training and taming hounds.

History

The stone Dogs are descendants of pre-Conflux refugees that settled close to lake Erie in the pre-Conflux US state of Ohio many of them being fisherman and their families. In an abandoned theme park many refugees built a small settlement and fish the waters and traded with their neighbors for other goods. Over time the survivors regressed in technology as well different camps and settlements would intermarry and consider themselves related forming a new tribe.   After a crop failure and poor fish catch the tribe was low on food and to compound problem a tribe of Tchothchos called the melon heads entered the territory and began capturing and killing people. The melon heads entered the area causing the tribe to prepare their defense. The battle occurred and after twelve dead or wounded, the melon heads cut their losses, with the Stone dogs pursuing them to the forest. The bodies of the dead were gathered and the tribals buried in accordance with their beliefs, but questions would be raised about the bodies of the Tchothchos as no one wanted them respected.   One elderly hunter suggested eating the bodies as food was low already While most of the tribe recoiled at the suggestion, a handful of elders would consider the idea. The hunter would select a body and take it to his home, where he cut a piece out of the tchothcho and cooked and ate it. When the other tribals asked the hunter about the experience, the man replied that he felt fine, and well it tasted funny cooking and eating it was easy. This would convince others to try the meat and created a ritual of the Stone dogs eating the flesh their enemies.

Foreign Relations

The Stone Dogs have a friendly relationship with most of their neighbors however over the years the Stone dogs have regularly been at war with the melon head tribe of Tchothchos, troops of Dire Baboons, tribes of pukwudgies, and the many creatures that live in the lake.
