A Human finishes loading rounds into her gun and and runs
straight into a pack of angry kobolds that are threatening her
town. She tumbles and spins, her weapon burping out salvo
after salvo of hot lead against the poorly armed draconians
with naught but simple spears to use against her.
Setting her perch up at the top of a tree, a Half Elf begins
to train the custom built sights of his homemade rifle on his
prize. Amidst the roaming herd of goblins and hobgoblins,
there stands a single, massive fire giant shouting commands
to the monsters. As he lets out a haughty guffaw, he sees his
opening. His lips curl into a grin, and he pulls the trigger.
A band of orcs move in and surround a Tiefling and her
disarmed friends, calling for their surrender. Undeterred, the
tiefling turns her steely gaze to the firearms within her hands,
and imbues them with a mysterious arcane force, then twirls
about, firing a multitude of magically charged shots towards
his now baffled foes.
Whether outlaws from a distant land trying to redeem
themselves, swashbucklers with an eye for the explosive, or
smiths that wish to show off their talents to the world in the
heat of battle, gunslingers come from many backgrounds, but
all have one thing in common. They’re all very good with
guns, and use unique fighting styles and speed to strike down
any foe that challenges them with less advanced weaponry.

In The Nameless Trilogy World
When the Tenfold War broke between the Northern Alliance and the Eightfold Confederacy, it announced the beginning of the modern era. Before the war, most conflict was fought with conventional weapons like swords and arrows and magic. But Nor'Vagu brought to the battlefield new technologies and new horrible weapons. Regular soldiers trained with rifles, propelling metal shot across the battlefield faster than the eye could see, changed the battlefield with lethal precision. Cannons destroyed armies and towns at greater distances than even the archmages could manage. And tanks mounted with rapid fire rifles rumbled across the battlefield like great metal beasts.
There was no going back to the old ways when the modern era began. After the war, firearms became more and more frequent in towns and cities. In the hands of an average citizen, they were an effective deterrent against monsters or other threats. And the militaries of the world have now chosen to diversify their conventional military forces with specialists trained in these new weapons. Some individuals have chosen the path of the gunslinger as they continued to specialize in these weapons. Some have even managed to implement magic into these weapons.
Outside of Nor'Vagu, there is no widespread gun culture. As such, there are few locations that actually mass produce the weapons. Gunslingers are therefore akin to artificers, crafting the weapons themselves and honing their techniques. They are a cut above the regular soldiers who fill the ranks of national armies, treating the weapon with the respect it deserves and honing their skill like an art form.
When choosing this class, consider where you first started learning. Do you have a background in the military, or did you start developing your skills after the war? What is your view of firearms and their use in society in general?
