Soft Heart in The Mystic | World Anvil

Soft Heart

A man's body was found deep in Wyldwood. On his body a song was found written on bloody paper.
Daddy fought like a bear 'gainst monsters of old, 'Til his strength gave out, and his blood ran cold, He said, son, these lands are filled with ill will, Keep your heart ever soft, don't thirst for the kill.   See, the ways of the beast will just bring you to tears, Keep your soul free of rage, and you'll have nothin' to fear, Live right and be kind, don't let blood be your skill, Keep your heart ever soft, don't thirst for the kill.   Well Daddy, I've been tryin', can't seem to find peace, lost too much in this world, nothin' puts me at ease, But I remember your words, they bring me the chills, Keep your heart ever soft, don't thirst for the kill.   Mind this, a man's worth is in his kind deed, It takes twice as long to mend hearts that you bleed, And there's hurt you can cause time alone cannot heal, Keep your heart ever soft, don't thirst for the kill.   Well Daddy, I've been tryin', can't seem to stand tall, There's too much in this world, feels like I'm 'bout to fall, but I remember your words, now they bring me to shame, My heart's turned stone, now I thirst for the kill.   My heart turned stone..
The song was quickly picked up by many hunters as a shanty sung as they march through the woods.
