The Fortress City

The Eternal Emperor took us into his capital city. It was unlike any place I had ever seen... A city on a floating island, in a dimension that he had total control over. Even the city was completely unlike any city I had ever seen, inhabited almost exclusively by ANGELS of all things. Thousands upon thousands of angels. Truly... What a place to call your home.
-One of the sages Althos invited into his home, on the nature of the nameless Fortress City that Althos claims as his sanctum in a sanctum
Althos throughout his life has had multiple homes. First, he lived in the Silver Xana, an inn in Comillas. Then he lived in a subterranean tower beneath Puerto Rico. For a while, he lived on a floating island that floated over a Torunian ocean. But then, when Morehammer left his gravesite and defeated Althos, he fled to Htrae, where he lived in an underground lake.    That said, Althos has one more home. A true home, within his divine realm. Within his divine realm, on the copy of his strange, floating island, there is a city. A city, one unlike any other city, Althos knows of. A city inhabited almost entirely by the divine, be they Althos or his angels. This unnamed city is the capital of his divine realm and his empire.    This city, mysterious as it is, is the seat of all of Althos' power, guarded entirely by his angelic legions, over a quarter of a million beings who are utterly devoted to their lord.    Author's Note: This is a living article, as such more information on it will appear in the future.

Demographics

The only inhabitants of the Fortress City any real note, aside from Althos, are angels. Angels from dozens of domains and subdomains of various levels of the angelic hierarchy.

Government

Althos reigns supreme here. His word is law, indisputable, undeniable, law.

Defences

There are few places in the universe more well-depended on Althos' divine realm. One of the few is the Fortress City. It is defended by, among other things, a full, thousands-strong army of angels of war, who are some of the finest fighters in the cosmos. And that is without considering the reality that not even an overgod from the ancient past would have been able to enter the realm and then the city unnoticed by Althos, and unfazed by his attacks, if one were foolish enough to invade his divine realm, where his powers are magnified and those of his enemies are dampened.

Industry & Trade

Believe it or not, Althos does not specifically drive most of his angels to do what they do. They are, by and large, free to do as they will in the Fortress City. Angels choose to do work, and they choose to serve their deific master. Angels, as a result of the intelligent design and intentionality behind their creation, want to do things related to the domains and subdomains they embody.

Infrastructure

The city was made in a matter of moments by a younger, less well-traveled Althos. He widened his floating island home and covered most of the surface of it with his capital, and designed it to be inhabited by angels. He made towers, parks, and archives for his use and for the usage of his angels.    Given how well-designed the city was when it was made three years ago, one can scarcely imagine the sort of city a well-traveled, older, and far more powerful Althos could imagine and create. Among other changes that have happened since he made the city, he has gained a tier of influence over the creation domain, and two entire tiers of influence over the subdomain of technology. If Althos were to redesign the city, keeping in mind the wonders he's seen since he first created it, who knows what sort of odd metropolis he'd create.

Assets

The city was built from nothing, from the sheer power and will of its creator. That said the city is, to mortal minds, nearly indescribably beautiful, with roads made of crystals and gold, and the buildings themselves are made of magical materials.    There are also tomes that contain vast amounts of knowledge, written by countless angels of knowledge, stored in archives that are both towering buildings and also go deep into the island, where they are often tended to by "friendly" undead, who have come to an agreement with the sage-like angels of knowledge and have agreed to tend to the archives which are an important treasure belonging to the god of everyone and everything in the realm.

Guilds and Factions

Althos' angelic host has begun to develop something like its own factions, but for the most part there are no true separate factions, yet, in the capital of the Althonite empire. The only voice that matters now, and indeed even millions of years from now (assuming Althos doesn't die), in the distant future, the only voice of any power at all is Althos'. At most different factions will arise from creatures who seek to sway Althos one way or another, but as for how influential they'll be... Who can truly say? Perhaps they will find some way to appeal to the lord of life and death, but the most predictable outcome is that their words will fail to persuade a god to alter his course.

History

When Althos was but a young deity, only weeks after having cleared the tutorial, he acquired the first tier of influence over each of the classical elements. When he did he received a new quest: to construct a floating island and as a reward for completing the quest he'd become an elemental overlord. Elemental overlords were among the least of the higher beings in existence in the ancient past, but the strongest of them did possess powerful, reality-warping powers over the classical elements.   Althos successfully completed the quest, and he acquired a plethora of new abilities. He also made the island his home, though it would prove to be a short-lived stay. He stayed on his island home and grew his first cult of evil extraplanar allies, The Order Of The Heated Blade. In time, tragically, Morehammer would arrive, shortly after having defeated Althos and then following him to his home. The two would strike a bargain, and Althos would flee, taking the people of Torus into his divine realm.    Months after fleeing to the world of Htrae, Althos would opt to gain more angelic allies than the measly host he had gathered before then. He sent out a divine signal to hundreds of thousands of angels, and while doing so he constructed the city. The angels came, opting to join him as a consequence of his utilizing his powers to their fullest extent.    The angels have since taken up residence in the city their god made for them. They participated in the Pride Vs. Power: The Demon-God War, aiding their god in overcoming the insanity of an evil and murderous demon, Agustino, and aided him in acquiring even more power as a demon lord. And in the wake of his choice to patiently expand his empire the denizens of the Fortress City joined him in his efforts to slowly accrue more power and influence.     Now that Althos is an outer god, an archdevil, an intermediate deity, and all of the things he was before, it's entirely likely that he will attempt to reach out across the cosmos again and gain the service of more angels. If he does... who knows how many millions or even billions of angels will hear his call and flock to his side?

Tourism

The only non-animal, and non-angelic creatures to have seen his secretive capital, aside from ghouls in his service who tend the subterranean portions of his archives, are the few sages who interviewed him to gain a deity's understanding of divinity and metaphysics. And they were awed at what they had seen, despite coming from the world of Retribution, a fabulously wealthy and opulent planet with its own magical cities and buildings.

Architecture

The buildings are all surprisingly modern, inspired quite clearly by the sort of sites Althos could find in metropolises in the world of Htrae. Though no skyscrapers or high-rise apartments could be found, buildings have doors made of glass, elegant and green-covered roofs fit for dining, and other modern luxuries that wouldn't been seen on a planet like Torus, or Salifinos.

Geography

The main city is located on a flat plain. Previously the floor was largely grass-covered, but now it is covered in roads and sidewalks made of gold and other valuable metals. That said, there are large portions of the city that are situated in parks that depict different natural habitats, which is Althos' way of utilizing the island's old ecosystems, as well as creating paces for different, nature-oriented angels. There is also the matter of Althos' tower, which is the single largest structure on the island.    The defining feature of the island in the past was Althos' tower. It was a large thing he made himself utilizing powers over the earth in a subterranean area underneath Puerto Rico, as one of his first displays of power. It has sentimental value to the strange deity. When he first constructed the city he modified the tower as well, magnifying its height many times over and making it have a substantial presence underneath the island as well. What lurks within the tower, especially in its subterranean portions are entirely unknown aside from to Althos.
Perhaps it's where he keeps Ygaynth, the ancient black dragon he defeated in a climactic battle miles away from the city of Aronms in the distant past? Perhaps it's where he stores an army of liches, some of the most powerful undead he can freely create? It may even be where he keeps a secretive harem, an action consistent with paranoid deities of lust, which is certainly an accurate description of the emperor of evil.

Natural Resources

There are abundant natural resources in the city. The areas of the city that were once natural habitats that have been converted into parks still retain resources such as different types of wood, and much of the land is extremely arable, but it'd take Althos' blessing for any crops to grow in the land and if anyone who wasn't an angel tried to farm on them he'd likely disapprove of it, if not kill the intruders out right.
