The Snatchers
What childhood stories are people still afraid of as adults in your world?
It's vitally important to remember that the story I'm about to tell you is absolutely true.
The monsters are out there.
They stalk the woods,
they patrol the oceans,
they lurk in the high grass.
And if they catch you, you're gone.
They're called The Snatchers. They are lanky and tall, with arms 10 feet long and flat faces entirely without features. They are covered all over in clammy, rubbery black skin, but anyone who's ever attacked one swears they do not bleed. Their grip is like iron and when they give chase they move with nightmarish speed and fluidity.
They have been spotted all over the world and taken people from every Nation. They've abducted those of any age, wherever they can get them. Some have been taken from their beds even in the city. Nowhere is truly safe.
They toss their victims into great sacks enchanted with sleep, to stop their victims struggle. Then they scurry back to their lairs.
But nobody knows what they do to their victims. Because nobody
has ever
made it back
to tell.
