The insults of the trade

The merchants and traders of the world need to know a lot of languages to be able to conduct business wherever they find themselves to be on the planet. This leads to them using a wide array of saying across cultures and more importantly, insults.
Common Phrases

You hold onto your coin like a Polier
Poliers are snakes living in the more tropical regions of the continent, who kill their prey by wrapping themselves around it, choking it

May the sun rise and burn you alive
This particular expression comes from the north, where it's commonly used during the long winters without sun. Despite how harsh it sounds it's one of the tamer expressions

You're reaching Sion levels of stupidity
This is a reference to an old myth about Sion, the great but stupid hero from the south

You just shot the dear with a knife
Originally from the midland forests, the insult refers to an old folktale in which a boy is learning how to hunt. His instructor follows him through the forest, always having to point out obvious things. When the pair finally sees a dear, the instructor tells him to shoot it. Instead of getting his bow, however, he looks at the knife he has in his hand, and throws it, missing the deer with many meters and scaring it away

Doing that is like shouting for an arsonist when your house is on fire
Pretty self-explanatory, this expression became popular after a particularly dry summer when a lot of accidental fires got started.

You're not to any ordinary noble
Popular expression over the whole central kingdom, after a particularly unpopular noble got offended by a servant refusing to call him a too long line of titles. The expression quickly became popular to express that someone demands too much respect for their position

Author's Notes

Hello! And thank you for reading my article!
This was made during the Summer Camp 2018 challenge. I won't be editing any of these to keep them for looking back on. That being said some I'm really not happy with, so I'll most likely put up an edited version at some point. If I do you will be able to find the link on the top of the page
