The Fate of The Astral Legion

"May we never forget the sacrifice of the Astral Legion, their deaths have granted us a new hope. A hope... that one day, we might prevail over death, that we might bring back peace to a war-ridden world."

- Supreme General Tyranus on the fate of the Astral Legion.
The Astral Legion was a band of legendary soldiers, who were said to have been clad in great, gleaming, blue armour that shone with the cosmos' light, and all members of the legion made a vow to never remove their armour, as their lives were in service to protecting the people, to which they would never let up their guard. They had a unique fighting style that involved the use of both a powerful Lens Blaster, wielded in the main-hand, and a Cosmo-steel shortsword for use in the off-hand.
The Astral Legion played a large role in the establishment of the Farron Imperium, as many of them were the original benefactors who aided General Tyranus in defending from the Archiat Confederacy's forces in their early stages. They quickly learned how to fight against enemies that vastly outnumbered their own, developing the close-quarters fighting-style that they demonstrated for the rest of their time in service.   The Legion was later employed as a subterfuge and guerilla operations team, where they saw great successes and gained legendary renown, through undermining hundreds of operations by criminal elements and enemy nations. They were seen by many as the heroes of the Farron Imperium, celebrated by all as they kept the nation at peace, allowing it to prosper and thrive like no other.
However, on one fateful day, the Imperium was attacked by a full-scale invasion from the Abysslands; wild, nightmarish creatures came from the sea and the sky, tearing through their armies and destroying many of the coastal cities. Supreme General Tyranus gave the order to try and drive the enemy north, into the Moonscorch, where they would be weakened. The Astral Legion came out in full force to counter their attack, driving them north for miles across the landscape, until the skies were a pale blue, and the ground turned to dust beneath their feet.
As the abyssal horde continued to bear down on their numbers, they saw the future of this battle turning sour; one where the only eventuality was a complete loss, and the death of hundreds more citizens of Farron. With their army destroyed, the Astral Legion made a choice, a choice that would end the battle. They called upon the power of the Cosmos, opening a great cosm in the regolith, where the celestial light of the Cosmic Plane burst forth and destroyed the remaining abyssal hordes, turning the battlefield quiet at last.   Their choice had defeated the enemy, but the Astral Legion was not spared, and they too succame to the cosm's pull, leaving nothing but the gleaming armour of those who had fallen along the way.   The Astral Legion has been immortalised through rememberance on the day of celebration, Memento Stellas, 'remember the stars', where they fought and won against the abyss, inspiring hope and faith in the order of the cosmos.
Many also show their respect to the legion by training in the gun and blade fighting style that they used to such great effect, embodying their legend, and continuing their legacy.
