Irith

Irith is an ancient and noble state, holding high its prospects of honour, courage and forgiveness. The first settlers of Irith were the members of a rebellion from ages past, and their history is deeply intertwined with the Cinder Empire.   Early History: Irith originated in Bolutar, the first city, where the first forms of magic were discovered. This magic was a raw, chaotic force that came from the user's soul, and it was used frugally to create miracles and wonders unlike anything ever before seen, and the magics became a point of worship in the eyes of many. At some point, a large group of pilgrims ventured out from civilisation to find the source of this power, where they were driven far East, across miles of empty land, until they came upon the dark, orderless hellscape of the Abysslands, which oozed with the same chaotic power prevalent in their soul-magic. This realisation caused a great divide in the pilgrims, some of them reveled in the discovery, while others were detested by it; although despite their differences, the pilgrims travelled back to Bolutar to tell of their findings. The two halves of the divide only grew further apart, and soon enough, a great civil war started.   The Civil War: Those who rejected their dark, soul-driven powers formed together and rose up against the people who still embraced their abyssal roots, but they were vastly outnumbered, and the magic used by the Bolutarians proved a powerful asset that they simply couldn't match. The now named Irith Rebellion fled north, away from the corrupted, abyssal fiends of Bolutar; they travelled north, where they found a mysterious structure which baffled the ancient Irithans, for upon it was sculpted a creature of unfathomable scale and power. The Irithans, in their haste and their desperation, prayed to the monument, pouring all their strength into it in hopes that it could give them the power to defeat the Bolutarians... but it would not bend to them so easily, and it did so much more.
Their prayers were after not long answered, causing a world-breaking rift to break out in front of them, opening the way for a great Cosmic Serpent to squirm out of; its shadow blinded the Irithans, and great clouds of chalky dust which fell from its carapace filled their lungs, but before they could look up to see it, the Serpent soared over the landscape, sending down great waves of destruction, shattering and tearing open the land itself. The dust billowed up, forming a permanent shroud over the entire world, as the Mist set in, landmasses were cleaved apart, sundering the land into continents, and its rays of power scorned the land, creating vile patches of the moonscorch in the far north and south. This great and terrible event was named The Cosmic Sundering, and it changed everything.   The Aftermath: Bolutar was destroyed, their armies turned to vapour, their cities fallen to dust, but those who lived on weren't ready to give up, not after what the Irithans had done.
The Serpent had been kind to the Irithans, however, as their land, and what few settlements they'd put up had been spared, but the great terror of what they had done did not shake itself from their minds; still, the war went on.
Irith prepared themselves the best they could, but they couldn't anticipate what the Bolutarians would do in retaliation; they constructed a great superweapon known as the Kiln of Fire, which was fueled by the abyss; with it, they created supersoldiers imbued with great abyssal power, the leader of whom was Kymar, and when they attacked Irith, the little defense they had managed to scrounge together was knocked aside with ease, as Kymar himself soon strode into the city of Anir Cosma, and told their leader to kneel, to which they obliged.
The Irithans had lost the civil war, and the Bolutarians had ordered their kingdom to be burned to the ground, but Kymar objected to their order, and soon, the disagreement between them ended in the death of the Bolutarians, and Kymar placed himself as the emperor, sparing Irith and letting them serve as vassals to his new Cinder Empire.   Modern Day: Today, Irith still operates under the wing of the Cinder Empire as a vassal, and the Queen, Rhiannon Frynhilde, upholds her respect for Kymar and his choice to spare her people, even ordering the creation of his Astral Greatsword, to symbolise their great union of the abyss and the cosmos.
