Sagan System

"Finding the Vanir in Sagan was truly the height of coincidence. Not only did we both happen upon the same system, we did so within ten years of eachother. Either life is much more common than we thought, or Sagan witnessed the least likely event in all of human history."

Named after the 20th century astrophysicist Carl Sagan, the Sagan system is a binary star system in the Romulus galaxy of the mirror plane. With the only planet in its habitable zone a hot gas giant with all of its moons too small to hold atmosphere, Sagan would've been a mere scientific curiosity and a possible source of raw materials if an alien species had not opened their own gate into Sagan eight years after the humans did.

Though still lacking in habitable worlds, the discovery of the Vanir in the Sagan system dramatically increased the importance of the system. The gate to the Sagan system was integrated into All-Crossing after the Vanir were confirmed to not be hostile, and both species maintain stations and observation posts in the system. The permanent population of the Sagan system remains extremely low.
