Draman

A world. Draman was discovered from Earth in 2200, and inhabited in 2203; it soon had half a million inhabitants in seven domed cities next to a verdant green sea. With the catastrophe of 2205, the young world was cut off from the rest of humanity, and an unforeseen corrosive problem with the cities' air ventilation led to a swift decline of its circumstances.   By 2230, the technological level of the world was falling fast; by 2240, it's inhabitants were forced to resort to biological birth to sustain their numbers, hoping they would be recontacted and rescued, though many argued it was immoral to bring new people into such dire circumstances. In 2251, a great and unexpected tsunami breached several of the surviving cities and accelerated their decline. Records from that decade seem to say many of the survivors denied any other worlds had ever existed, and thought Draman but "Earth put under green shadow".   The last inhabitants died around 2267.   Draman was rediscovered through Izmat in 2354. The former cities were not reoccupied, and the new inhabitations were placed where the new door was, in a valley of the high mountains of a different continent.

Planet

Draman is the fifth planet of a star system with fifteen planets, and has gravity of 0.7 EG and surface area of 0.4 ES. It is a temperate planet with small ice caps.   Draman has two small continents and is otherwise covered by a sea of water full of microlife that is unfortunately corrosive on many human materials, though this corrosion is not remarkably swift. It makes the oceans wholly unsuited for human use and difficult to explore, and necessitates the use of light protective clothing and membrane respirators even on land.   Since neither polar ice cap is anchored to any solid ground, they are capable of shifting with immense, ponderous force; it is conjectured this was the cause of the great and unexpected tsunami of 2251.   The 2203 inhabitation was on the shores of the Itasca continent; the 2354 inhabitation is confined to the inlands of the other continent, Halhuasca.

Humanity

Draman has a population of 1M, distributed equally among the valleys (largely the valley-cities) of Merfon, Cataphesis and Opfer.   POPULATION, CITIES, CULTURE   Draman is called "Twice Taken", for it was inhabited twice.
