Earth is the third planet orbiting Earthsun. It is a burning, molten hellscape bereft of life. It used to have green forests, blue oceans and skies, and many humans.
Earthsun is a white normal star. Earth has a moon called the Moon. The system has a total of eight planets, inward out Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, named after the old gods of . Beyond these, there are various minor planets, the chief among them Eris and Pluto.

Humanity

Humanity evolved on Earth, diverging from apes, monkeys and other now extinct lifeforms some millions of years ago. Humans discovered farming c. 10000 years ago, and shortly thereafter settled down and began to build cities and civilizations. These were inequal and cruel for the longest time, and engaged in ceaseless warfare and oppression against their members and other such entities. Humanity attained true civilization during the 21st century.
Earth was destroyed in 2205 when Earth's Opener of Ways made a doorway into The End, a world of endless fire. Earth boiled and burned before the doorway could be closed, and all the other doorways anchored to Earth closed or were closed. Most of the population of Earth perished.
Some weeks after the disaster, observations thru the Nithon doorway, which had detached from Earth's surface due to the destruction of the Opener of Ways, confirmed the likely death of all humans on Earth. The whole planet was wreathed in smoke and fire; the winds and temperatures observed were inimical to life. It is likely that life in some form could have survived; but not multicellular life. Since Earth had been an origin of doors, not their target, new doors could not be made there for the door coordinates of Earth are not known. With the loss of Earth, the inhabitation at Mars and the orbitals of Earth and the moonbases were cast adrift from the rest of humanity, and nothing but conjecture exists on their continued survival. Mars could survive, but not easily; the others could not.
