Continuing on our retrospective on the
Second Spanish War at the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of our victory, let us have a look today on Clothilde Berthier.
A promising young woman, nothing was destining her on becoming the
Dark Lord's favourite lieutenant before she was placed under his command in the
lone ace division at the start of the war, when it was sent to Bordeaux to stop the advance of the Spanish troops.
Unfortunately for Berthier and for France, the division only managed to join the city of Bordeaux a day before the Spaniards, and they got caught up in the following siege. As we all know, nothing managed to break the Spanish ranks, no matter how many sorties attempts were made by the besieged and the lone ace division. It was during one of those attempts that half of the division was wiped out, thereby giving Spain the opening they were looking for to enter Bordeaux.
What followed was the most ignominious defeat France has ever known and an unspeakable carnage for any French caught alive by the Spaniards, who were all too eager to revenge themselves for their defeat in the First War 16 years earlier. Berthier was trapped right in the middle of those events, having to witness both the Spaniards' terrible exactions and the not-less terrible magic the Dark Lord used to allow them both to escape.
Berthier decided she only survived because of the Dark Lord's acts and formed a deep debt of gratitude and loyalty towards him, following him wherever he led afterwards, no matter how depraved and against nature.
Let us all reflect on how this man has been able to twist the most brilliant mind of our country and to bring anyone to their ruin. No one should fall for his political façade and mistake him for anything less than the cruel manipulator that he is! We can only pray for
His Majesty and the
Chosen One to vanquish him soon and all bring them our best support in this endeavour.
