Winter's End Festival

History

There has always been a long tradition of celebrating the end of winter and the beginning of spring. During the reign of Ribent I, the Gratic Empire celebrated it officially for the first time, making it an extra day of rest. The following year, a festival was created to take place during that week. Over the years, various contests and competitions began to also occur during the festival's duration.

Execution

The festival itself contains many different smaller festivals that focus on song-making, music, dance, and poetry, but the main event occurs on the actual final day of the month. In larger cities, a parade of local officials makes its way through the streets towards the main plaza where they usually do their first speech of the season.

Participants

Important members of the Imperial hierarchy are always in attendance at this special event.

Observance

The Winter's End Festival takes place in the final ten-day week in the month of the same name.
