Leafguard

Green blades like grass;
Bright eyes like brass;
Sharp eyes like a breath;
Quick feet like death.
— A Fay poem found tucked in the armour of a Leafguard
The Fay Houses take their safety very seriously. Despite their great power, they are still mostly mortal and can certainly be killed. That's why they rely on the Leafguard to keep them safe. Masters of all Fay weaponry and trained to defend themselves against any form of assault, they are the elite fighters of the Fay and best suited to guarding their most important leaders.

Training

Leafguard are trained from birth. They are trained in all weapons, learn a variety of fighting styles, and even wear their armour while sleeping to become used to the weight. The capstone of their training is to go on a mission for the House they will work for in order to prove their loyalty. Once this done, the trainee becomes an official Leafguard.

Appearance

The newly-appointed member of the Leafguard selects their weapon of choice and receives a shield if their weapon is one-handed. Both of these items and their unnaturally light metal breastplate are of the finest quality that Fay blacksmiths can create, and also have the light green sheen that denotes its imbued resistance to magics. As the Fay Houses pride themselves on their appearance, their Leafguard are equally immaculate and devoid of emotion or visual imperfection.

Sightings in the Wider Multiverse

The Leafguard are always a step away from their charges, so if a member of one of the Houses travels the Multiverse, they will almost certainly be a few steps behind. Because of this, it's not uncommon to see them whenever Fay are involved. If anything, finding a Leafguard is always a good indicator that one will need backup, as the arrival of a scion of one of the Fay Houses is always a cause for concern in the wider Multiverse.
