Balkar's Armoured Hand

"If strong iron and well-crafted tools are your fancy instead, I cannot recommend Balkar's high enough. The man himself is incredibly skilled with a hammer and has no difficulty getting a newcomer into a suit of armour. He is also partial to show off his wares at the large wooden table in front of his shop, with a variety of sharp swords, well-weighted hammers, and protective suits of leather and mail readily available to those so inclined."   ~ The City of Cities

Purpose / Function

Armour is churned out of this smithy at a rate that makes many believe that the owner, Étan Balkar, must be a sorcerer. This is mostly due to his two apprentices, who help him get armour fashioned together and stitched up at a feverish pace. Many also seek out his services for the sale of armour found on adventures or the repair of their armour in between tasks.

Alterations

Balkar originally began his store with a single small forge and a small wooden building. Now the structure has a large stone exterior and a large wooden table out front covered with his wares.

Architecture

The store itself has wooden columns holding up a tall one-story stone structure. This is due to the height of the ceiling inside - this is for the doomed purpose of reducing the heat inside the building. Three large forges work throughout the day to heat metal and fuse together alloys, while the usual assortment of baths, work benches, and anvils are in near-constant use. In front of the shop, a wooden sign showing a warhammer indicates the owner's craft and a huge wooden table stretches the length of the store and is covered in various kinds of armour
