The Silent Wardens
In the southern Isturian kingdom of Kur'Taloth, rulership falls to the next in line within the royal family. As expected, some members of the family plot and scheme in an attempt to seize the throne for themselves. To protect the Black Crown, the ruler of Kur'Taloth, a specialised military order had to be formed. The Silent Wardens are bidden to act solely on the orders of the Crown and no other member of the royal family.
The Silent Wardens (sometimes just referred to as "the Wardens") are a secret military force designed to protect the life of the King or Queen, even from their own family, who ultimately holds most of the power. Most of the time, they linger in background, watching from the shadows and carrying out their own reconnaissance.
Composition
Weaponry
The Wardens pride themselves on their stealth, so any weaponry they carry is carefully concealed on their person. Thin blades, knifes and daggers are always on their person, and most will bear a small, hidden hand crossbow attached to their wrists. However, they are trained with most kinds of martial weapons and will always have larger ones stored safely in a location nearby, should they have need of them.
Structure
All Wardens answer to the ruling Black Crown, but often their movements must be guided by the Head Warden among them. This individual has the personal confidence of the ruler and is their prime protector.
Tactics
The Silent Wardens are so named for their stealth and covert surveillance. Acting under orders from their leader, they will often be deployed on missions of intelligence-gathering. If there are ever any threats to the Black Crown, they are usually the first to know.
Other than being personal spies and bodyguards for the ruler of Kur'Taloth, they can also be deployed on secret military missions that require a stealthy and organised task force. They are masters at hand-to-hand combat as well as using most forms of martial weapons. They are strong, agile and have an incredible amount of endurance that allows them to operate on very little resources.
It is then not surprising that assassins are known to come from the Silent Wardens.
