Jokhosh's Rage

Natural disasters are all-too-common in Isturoth, including those of a volcanic nature. When Jokhosh, the god of untamed emotions and primal desire, tunnels too close to the surface from deep underground, or they become so caught up in their own anger that it must be discharged, their rage boils forth in explosions of rock and magma.

Manifestation

The tops of mountains are blasted apart and rocky slopes turn into rivers of bubbling lava, in a violent demonstration of the devastating rage of Jokhosh. Most natural disasters in Isturoth are tied to the Primordial Instinct, but their rage is the most potent and apparent. Volcanic eruptions and lava flows are a physical manifestation of the divine and have the biggest impacts on the people of Isturoth.   Many rituals have been devised in service to Jokhosh, in an attempt to mitigate the untempered anger of the god. Some of these are intended to be calming, others are more angled as to allow lesser expressions of their rage, so as to avoid the cataclysmic eruptions that can devastate whole regions of the Ironstone Mountains. Such rituals can include the playing of music, offerings of food or blood (usually discarded into pits or crevices that descend into darkness) and chanting prayers.   There is a small minority that believe exhibitions of Jokhosh's Rage can not be alleviated, that these catastrophic events will happen regardless for as long as the God dwells beneath the ground, negatively affecting the world above with their actions. Many dismiss this view as nihilistic, preferring instead to believe that these events can be mitigated if one worships hard enough and follows the correct rituals.

Localization
