Aethite

Thousands of years ago, the kingdom of Aethelas marked one of the first organised civilisations. Those that inhabited this nation are referred to as the "Aethites". These people are considered to be a progenitor for most of the humanoid species on the continent.

History

It is a common belief by historians that the continent had once connected to the other on Cyllarune. Humanoid peoples had come across on this land-bridge and begun to settle the north-east corner of the continent. After a few thousand years, the crossing went from difficult to impossible and the land separated.   By now, though, the primitive Aethites had progressed from scattered tribes living in small towns to cities with trade and culture. It is this culture that would pervade for thousands of years after the fall of Aethelas. By around QR 3500, Aethites had migrated into the Ironstone Mountains to the south-west and the plains to the west through a narrow pass of traversable land.   The The Scouring of Aethelas brought about the end to a civilisation that had survived for millenia, however echoes of its people would be seen for untold ages. Skadi and Isturian both stem from the culture developed by the Aethites, reflections of which can be seen in architecture, clothing, art and writing. It is also believed that much of the rudimentary technology of both kingdoms originated in Aethelas and was migrated with its people.
