40 - 8/19

After returning to Saltmarsh and securing the town from the Stoneheart Valley Trading Company, the group set about performing various tasks while they settled in for the long winter months. The sun remained eclipsed by the dark sister until late Foeres, nearly four months later, when it began to slowly desynchronize with the suns orbit and a bit of daylight appeared.   Pink sailed back to the Pirate Isles and began to consolidate her power. The other pirate lords had met a similar dismal end to assassinations like in Santa Quint, and with the power vacuum and fear of invasion Pink managed to conquer or convince the remaining two ports to join her. Now in control of the entire archipelago, she pledged to return to the mainland once winter was over and aid the rest of her companions in their endeavors. Her first order of business was to lay the ground rules for how she ruled, but generally kept a relaxed grip on the populace.   Morrigan and Gellan Primewater became co-council members of Saltmarsh and each set about ensuring their new domain was under control and loyal. Firstly Morrigan reached out to her adventuring companions in providing advice and council in her leadership endeavors, with various reluctant degrees of support.   Content she had good advice behind her, she sought out the neighboring towns who might have similar interests and formed the Akadian Pact, an economic and political alliance. Zakarias Ormond of Orlane, whos wife was formerly an Oweland, pledged to join the Akadian Pact as long as a council was formed and other towns that joined got a vote. Similarly Morrigans cousins Leon and Isabel Oweland of Gleamshore agreed to join and provide financial assistance towards raising an army. The council agreed to meet in Saltmarsh on the 28th of every month, an Arcday, which represents the God of Rightful Rule.   Back in Saltmarsh, Morrigan called the town together and in front of everyone and publicly denounced Eliander Fireborn for the murder of her mother, Eda Oweland. Panic, disbelieving Morrigans story protested, but the town boiled over and angrily demanded his head. Under threat of a mob, Panic backed off long enough that when it cleared, she saw the lifeless body of Eliander hanging from the gallows.   To guarantee that the taxes continued to flow, Morrigan met with Phillip Darlington-Whit and after threatening him, the meek man agreed to serve loyally. Jilar Kanklesten of the carpenters guild asked the leaders if her construction project to build upon the unused hills and renovate the poor dock district was still honored. Morrigan agreed, but had to argue with Gellan Primewater about honoring the deal.   Deciding that the region would desperately need an army to defend itself, General Glorif Pagliades was promoted to train and recruit soldiers for the fledgling nation and given a staggering amount of tax income for the task. Commission for 500 soldiers of equipment and arms were ordered, and over the next 3 months they began to purchase gear and train to defend the new realm.   Grald Oakenbrew of the miners guild was reluctant to continue work under their rule, but with additional guaranteed pay, protection from the evil orcs of the mountains, and freedom of movement they agreed to mine iron for the armies.   Realizing that not knowing what their enemies and potential allies were up to nor what the nearby regions looked like in the wake of all the political upheaval, Ruven was given funds and supplies to become the Spymaster. She quickly set about her task promoted and spent gold to check on neighboring areas.   Pink and Zelem laid plans for renovating and founding the new city of Fortune's Crossing, formerly known as Kennmouth. This would have to wait until after winter was over and Pink returned to the mainland, but preparations were made none the less.   For construction projects, the first task was to construct Palisades and Watchtowers at Fortunes Crossing to help defend against any possible attack from Bards gate. Next would be to renovate and fortify Cragmaw Castle to ensure safety from the "Realm of Evil" that was secretly the land of Morrigans necromancer step-father Hector. The last project was in Saltmarsh itself, where the site that the priests of Muir had sought to build their temple would instead become an entertainment district for Saltmarsh. Danta would head the design and layout of this area, where it was hoped that income could be earned in the long run.
