13 - 04/28/25 : Wagon Draggin'

Ezri, Snow, Adeline, and Nadya began their trip to Queen's Ford, where Nadya's ley line was located. As they traveled, the students encountered an old man asking for directions. When the party assisted him, it became clear that he was some kind of fey and the man gave the party a charm to speed their travel as thanks. As the party rested for the night, Adeline was especially excited to assist with camping for the first time, while Ezri and Nadya were happy to relax and let their more athletic comrades do the heavy lifting.   During the next day's travel, the party encountered a Hill Giant with a pair of giant rams. While Ezri was keen to live and let live, her party reminded her that the hill giant would likely attack them on sight. As Ezri accepted the imminent combat, Snow used thaumaturgy to call out the giant. Unsurprisingly, he attacked the party, leading his rams into battle. Despite the giant's heavy hits and the rams' odd magic infused horns, the party was able to hold strong and defeat the giant. Adeline suggested to Snow that the magic properties of the ram horns might be useful for Snow's weapon, and the two set to work on harvesting the horns and fleece of the fey ram. As they finished, the managed to find a hidden trail through the woods, leading in the direction of their goal, and realigned the stablewrights to take this new shortcut.   The party neared the Great Saltmarsh as they began their final day of travel. In the depths of the swamplands, Snow noticed an unusual land formation that began to move, and realized it was a black dragon that had its eye on them. In a quick escape plan, Ezri began using her magical flames to try and propel the cart forward. Snow kept an eye out for the dragon and good escape routes, while Adeline began carving elemental runes into the wood of the cart. Nadya took advantage of Snow's work, infusing them with her innate celestial power, and the combined efforts of the mages sent their wagon skyward, propelled by Ezri's flame. This extra push helped the party to give the dragon the slip, and the group caught their breath once it seemed safe. Further along the path, the party found another wagon that seemed to have not been so lucky, having been destroyed by acidic breath. Not ones to leave behind useful tools, the students began looking through the refuse for anything of use. Left in the wreckage, they found some gold, a hat of vermin, a ring of jumping, and a wand of magic detection.   The next morning, the mages arrived in Queen's Ford, where the scene was chaotic as villagers were demanding solutions from the nobles for the recent kidnappings and violence plaguing the town. An elderly dwarven woman managed to quell the villagers and reminded them that the nobles had been caught in the crossfire as well. As she seemed the most knowledgeable about the events, the party went to speak with the woman, who introduced herself as Hastra Grandbeard. She explained how these events were likely the work of Bogaroth, a demon that she and her old adventuring party had sealed in the a soul cage of celestial magic long ago. The seal had weakened and in her venerable age, Hastra was in no position to restrengthen it, but she could tell that Nadya's magic would be able to reseal the demon in her stead. While Nadya was unenthused about the duty placed upon her by her magic, she didn't want a demon wreaking havoc either and agreed to help.   The party began navigating through the Blightwater swamp, with Snow taking the lead. Unfortunately, unaccustomed to such environs, she was caught unawares as the party found themselves surrounded by opportunistic crocodiles. While the beasts were fearsome, the students prevailed and continued on their path. As they neared the sunken cathedral housing the ley line, they came across an unusual ally in the form of Sir Garwin, a skeleton who had formerly been in Hastra's party and was killed in the fight with Bogaroth. He wished to see the fiend defeated and his body returned to its proper resting place in the cathedral. With Garwin in tow, the party approached the cathedral, prepared to face cultists and demons alike.
