04 - 2/24 : Silence of the Lamb

After packing up their gear, Ireena and Ismark said their farewells to their old home and the group departed to the Church of Solanus. The road to the church was no more welcoming than before, rain and wind pelted the group as they wound through the deserted streets of Barovia.
Donavich met the group at the door, and offered his hospitality and agreed to help bury the siblings departed father. In the courtyard Judge and Mofi gently lowered the coffin into a pit, Ismark said some kind words about the former Burgomeister and Donavich presided over the ceremony.
Out of the darkness began to stride hordes of weak zombies. The group jumped to the defense and prepared to retreat, but Ireenas feet had become entangled in vines! Unable to run, weapons were drawn and battle commenced!
Hordes of zombies poured out of the gate and up the hill, though weak in their numbers still proved difficult to combat. Wolves jumped out of the darkness and surrounded Ireena, followed by the dreaded vampire Morrigan herself. She reached out to Ireena, offering to rescue her from the dangerous company she was in, but Ireena refused! She screamed, called Morrigan a monster and desperately set about freeing herself. Mofi rushed in to protect Ireena, but Morrigan turned with hatred burning in her eyes. From behind her back she revealed a shriveled hand, it reached out with frightening speed and grasped Mofi. Morrigan hissed out angrily at the Satyr one word, "Pink!" before unleashing a blast of necrotic energy.
Mofi perished, Morrigan summoned a dreaded three headed fell hound, and after seeing the terror in Ireenas eyes fled. From the church a new figure emerged, a monk that had been staying with Donavich. She leapt into the fray, and the group continued their battle against Morrigans horde.
While the battle was fierce, eventually our heroes stood victorious against the undead. Qiao introduced herself, she was from the distant realm of the Xhae'en Hegemony and had traveled far to somehow wind up in the realm of Barovia. She had been resting from her wounds at the Church of Solanus, and after recovering wished to join the party in their revenge against Morrigan. Prayers were said for Mofi, and the group retired to the church to rest for the evening.
While inside, the group began to rest from their hard-fought battle. Some set up in the main chapel while a few others split off into the rooms. Wixley slept on a bed of fey bats, but before she dozed off she noticed something strange about the candle. It seemed to be cycling down in its pulses, and after examining it noticed the runes of the Silence spell carved on the candle. It would likely go off soon. She woke theothers, and Qiao found magically enchanted restraints that were prepared to capture whomever slept in her bed! Realizing something foul was afoot, the group began to explore the chapel to find out where Donavich had gone, and what evil had befallen the once sacred temple to Solanus.

Portraits

Wixley - The small halfling fights with bow and is an expert in dealing with undeath. Her expertise and abilities will prove a great asset against the foes to come.

Fabian - A powerful sorcerer overflowing with magic, the aasimar sorcerer brings a potent suite of spells to the table to take down all foes.

Judge - The stoic worshipper of Muir, his combat expertise and righteousness leads the group to glory against all evil assailants who would dare challenge the group.

Mofi - A Satyr of the wilds, the barbaric warrior was eager to prove her worth in combat and seek out and fight the strongest foes. During the attack on the graveyard, she bravely stood against Morrigan before being blasted with necrotic energy. She was given a full burial by her friends, who vowed to get revenge on the evil vampire Morrigan.

Katrina - A knight and supporter of the Akadian pact, Katrina fights with Sword and spell as a battle wizard.

Qiao Tai - An astral monk from the distant realms of the Xha'en Hegemony, she has traveled far and found herself in the lands of Barovia. After resting at the Church of Solanus, she heard the commotion in the graveyard and quickly rushed to the groups defense to fight off Morrigan's undead.

Ismark 'the Lesser' Kolyana - Ismark was met in the Village of Barovia, Morrigan had become infatuated with his sister to some unknown sinister end, and feared for her life. He and his sister are now being escorted by the party to the nearby town of Vallaki for safety.

Ireena Kolyana - The adopted sister of Ismark, she has been bitten twice by Morrigan and fears for her life. She knows not what the horrible vampire might want from her, but hides in her home in desperation, hoping for someone to lead her to safety. Her and her brother have joined the party who now seeks to protect her at all cost, and are preparing to journey to Vallaki.

Donavich - The priest of the Church of Solanus in the village of Barovia, he helped the party bury the former Burgermeister before offering him his hospitality. As the characters began to get settled in to their rooms, Wixley noticed something foul was afoot.

Morrigan - The dread terror of the realm of Barovia. She plunged part of the Plains of Mayfarrow into darkness, nearly shattered the Akadian Pact, and has full dominion over her realm. The vampire first made an appearance at the Graveyard in the village of Barovia. She unleashed her undead minions on the party before trying to 'rescue' Ireena. Ireena screamed, called her a monster, which unleashed Morrigans wrath on Mofi. Seeing Ireena in terror, Morrigan retreated, but it would not be the last time her evil gaze fell upon our heroes.
