Siege of the Ossiarchs

The Bonereaper force which had helped attack Nomura and her allies had taken refuge in a hastily built structure at the River Phlegethon. Making her way across the plains, she and her people built a small post for relaying supplies, called Candent. They then went to work on the Siege. The battle itself would be a brutal one of close combat, for one does not starve the Bonereapers, and neither side was particularly fond of shooting. While the bonereapers had heavy catapults, this would be the only aspect of ranged combat. However, it meant that the Haethens would be suffering casualties for their entire advance, with no means of response.

The first assault was a brutal loss, the supporting leaders taken out by the catapults, leaving the Haethens no means to summon reinforcements. The assault for the walls was a bloody, protracted force, and the Haethens took part of the walls, but did not breach far enough to claim victory.

On the next full moon, they once more called their leaders from root and soil. Rising from the lake, Nomura strode amongst her allies, and gave speeches of the works they must do. The inspired forces prepared themselves, and the next assault began.

Cavalry rushed forward, taking advantage of the breach created the last time to attack the wall. The forces fought bitterly, and reinforcements moved up to aid them. This was a ruse on the part of the Haethens, and the cavalry disengaged, moving to the opening left by the warriors, as Haethen infantry rushed in to take their place, grinding through the forces on the walls and suffering extreme casualties.

Nomura followed the Cavalry into their new ingress, and together the flankers struck the Bonereaper catapults. This was sufficient to buy time for the remainder of the forces to join the battle, summoning through the Fane. The walls’ defenders began to fall, and the forces within looked to be routed quickly. While a countercharge did wipe out the cavalry, Nomura herself struck down the final troops holding the wall.
