FAQ

1. What can players write about?
Some Good Guidelines for writing.
  • Players can typically write about anything that is occurring in the present time-space of the world.
  • Players can also write in detail about the things they create, Things they have done (battles, sieges, building, traveling), and things they have learned.
  • Exploring the world by moving your army across the map, building in certain locations, and through your creativity will unlock Secret knowledge provided by the GMs.You may be the only person to learn this knowledge and will be able to share it or keep it a secret at your own discretion.
  • They should only reference the past if they have found something in an existing article on this site, or within AOS LORE if referring back to events that happened in the Mortal Realms.
  • You are a new traveler to this world and are seeing it through the same fresh eyes as your character. Write with this in mind
  • Dont assume that anything man-made or anything enacted by a conscious being or god has been put in place prior to your arrival.
  • You can describe odd magical unexplained things or takings place that seems to occur naturally or inexplicably. They may even inspire the GM to add a background for if it doesn't exist.
  • You can also invent things like strange flora and fauna. And you can elaborate LIGHTLYon the local population and their day to day.
  • If you encounter locals they are in tiny villages/nomadic groups of 50-100 people.
  • If you would like to write about encountering ruins, they would only be of these small villages of 50-100 people.
  • When writing about the small villages, and the local populace, keep in mind, they have not had any significant impact on the past. You CAN write about them having a unique culture, belief system, etc, so long as it would not have had a major impact on the world around them.

3. What are Kingdoms?
Kingdoms are groups of Players that have allied together to form a single organization similar to a grand alliance but on a smaller scale.

4. Why doesn’t it work when I move my own map Pin?
While you may be able to move your pin on the map, it will not permanently stay where you move it as a player. This helps the player to plot their movements, but an Admin/Gm must move your pin for it to become permanent. Moving your pin is communicated via the Action Form.

5. What is the purpose of my Army Pin?
The Army Pin on the world map is a representation of the main bulk of your army and thus your centralized focus in changing the world. The location of your Army Pin determines the actions you can take when interacting with the surrounding region. This includes things like building settlements, attacking other players, building road, exploring, etc.
This does not mean that you cant write about your faction interacting with other parts of the world. On the contrary, you can write or report battles as if they are happening anywhere in the world by small "detachments" from your main force. This allows players to narratively justify assisting attackers/defenders in sieges, writing stories, playing soulbond homebrew campaigns, and playing regular battles on continents far across the map from your main army pin. These "detachments' are mainly restricted from performing mechanical Actions that you would see on the Action Form.

6. What happens if two Army Pins cross?
If Two Army pins cross during movement, A GM will determine if it is likely that one would attack the other. If it is likely, then the GM will contact the player who submitted their form first and ask if they wish to attack, if they answer no, then the armies will pass each other unhindered. Afterall a gridsquare is 100x100 miles leaving plenty of room to pass each other within the 3 month period of a turn.

7. What is a “Turn” and how does it relate to real-time Weeks?
As of right now a turn is a 2 week period. During the first week, players submit various forms to interact with the world. During the second week, GMs/Admins enact those forms onto the world. Players can keep track of what they are doing during the GM week to submit in the following player week.

8. What is a special RS request?
A Special RS Request is a section of the Lore Form where players can request/attempt to do Extraordinary events. This includes things like a massive dark ritual to corrupt the surrounding lands or provoke a volcano to erupt, or poison a water source. A GM will give that player of the estimated cost behind that action before it is performed. 9. How do the Waaagh! pins work?
The Waaagh! pins travel around the map each turn looking for settlements to pillage. These occur as siege events that players can participate in by submitting reports the can help the attacker or defender. If a Waagh! is successful, it earns RS and carries it with the army pin. If you intercept and besiege a Waaagh! pin with your army pin, then you will earn all the loot they have collected if you win the siege event. Waaghs will grow stronger as they continue to pillage and plunder. This means that they will become even bigger threats if left unchecked.   A fun FYI for everyone. If an NPC Waaghs wins/pillages a settlement, it collects the loot and carries it with them. if your army pin "besieges" a waagh with loot then you capture all they have if you win that "siege"   9. What is the difference between a Siege battle and a regular Battle?
when a siege is started by either a player or an NPC it will resolve even if no submissions are sent in for either side. This is in case either party is not able to participate. OTHER players can still submit things to help either side.   For A siege to start, either player must submit a PVP/Siege Form. This applies to attacking any army pins or settlements, including those controlled by the GM (NPC pins/Settlements). If you engage another army pin, the same rules for resolving sieges applies. You can still engage with other armies/NPCs without submitting a siege form, but it will not change either player/NPCs settlement tier levels if they are not tied to a specific siege event.   The PVP/siege form is basically my way of knowing that you intend to try and capture/pillage a settlement/army pin (player or NPC), and that you accept the risks involved with starting a siege. it makes your intentions known so that when I am reviewing things I will know whether what you reported was just a fun battle themed around your army's current location or a full-on attempt to pillage/conquer.   10. What do I do if I want to stop playing, or stop playing a Hero and Setup a new Character?
If you want to quit playing or stop playing a certain leader/army, then notify a GM in the discord (privately), or send an email to [email protected]. We will work with you to figure out what happens to your Settlements, Realm Stone, etc. You can gift settlements and resources to a friendly player. Anything you do not want gifted will become and NPC settlement under the control of the GM's.
