5. PVP Siege Battles. in The Lost Archipelago | World Anvil

5. PVP Siege Battles.

These Rules are used when Players attack each other's constructed Settlements by besieging them. If an Attacker wins a Siege, then they will be able to either Pillage or Conquer the Settlement (See section 5 of the Accruing Realm Stone article for Pillaging and Conquering). Sieges occur as Siege Events. Every player will have the option to participate in these events and help either the attacker or defender. This is done when submitting battle reports and/or Lore forms. A section under each form will allow you to indicate whether you are supporting the Attacker or Defender. Current Sieges taking place will be displayed in the PVP Sieges article and on the Siege Event Layer of the World Map.

Player vs Player Sieges

1. To attack another player/settlement on the map, you must end your move in a grid square containing one of their Settlements or their Army. You must have an unobstructed path to the Settlement or Army within the same grid square. If a mountain/river within the same grid-square entirely blocks your path to the opposing Player's Army or Settlement, then you will need to either move around them or build something to cross over them before attacking.

2. To attack another player's Settlement, you must have an Army Encampment constructed that is Tier 1 or higher.

3. You can initiate Campaign PVP by filling out a Campaign PVP Form found in the Forms article. When filling out this form you will be prompted to pick between Pillaging or Conquering the Settlement. The defending player will be notified via email that their Settlement/Army is under attack.

4. A siege will last a single turn. During that turn, players will be able to submit their usual Battle Reports and Lore Forms in support of the Attacker or the Defender. If you submit a battle report or lore entry tied to a siege, then its content should be themed around that siege event. To be eligible to assist the Attacker or Defender, you must either be part of the same kingdom or your faction must be one that is eligible to form a coalition with their faction as seen in Table 2 of the Accruing Realm Stone article.

(NOTE: The calculations stated in Section 5 are performed automatically. This information is provided for GM transparency, and player strategy).

5. The winner of a siege event is determined by several factors. These factors earn points for the Attacker/Defender. The side with the most points at the conclusion of the siege wins. Ties go to the side with the most submissions, if both sides have equal submissions then Ties go to the Defender. These factors include the Settlement/Army Encampment Tier, the Settlement/Army Encampment Focus, The number of Battle Reports and Lore Forms submitted in support of the Attacker/Defender, and the Roll of the dice. This also applies when One Army Encampments attack another Army Encampment. The chances of winning/losing a Siege are shown in Table 1 below.

  • 5.1. Settlement Tier= Generates a number of Points equal to the current Tier level, 1-5 points.
  • 5.2. Settlement Focus= If the Settlement Focus is Military then they gain 1 point.
  • 5.3. Number Submissions= For the Duration of the siege, players will be able to submit their battle reports and Lore Forms in support of either the attacker or the defender (Maximum of 3 Battle Reports per turn, and 3 Lore submissions per turn). The side that gets the most submissions earns their side 1 point.
  • 5.4. GM Dice Roll= When the siege even ends, the GM will roll 1 D3 for the attacker, and 1D6 for the defender The Attacker/Defender will gain a number of points equal to the roll of the D3/6.
Examples
  • Attacker= Attacking Army Encampment Tier= 4, Military Focus= 1, Most Submissions= 1, Roll D3= 3(2)
  • 4+1+1+2= 8 points
  • Defender= Defending Permanent Settlement Tier= 4, Culture Focus= 0, Most Submissions= 0, Roll D6= 4
  • 4+0+4+0= 9 points
  • Defender Wins!
6. If an Attacker loses a Siege event, then the Tier level of their Army Encampment is reduced by 1 Tier level.

GM DISCLAIMER: The Mechanics of this system are meant to ensure fair play during PVP Siege events. That being said, it is at the GM's discretion when determining the overall victory of the siege based on other factors that may be going on in the world. This includes things like narrative World Events such as plagues or demonic incursions. A GM overruling will most often happen when the results of a siege are close, and the GM has determined that these narrative World Events would have an impact on the siege.
