Born 1886, Messina, Sicily, Kingdom of Italy, to a family of minor sicilian nobility. Enlisted in the army of the Kingdom of Italy, in 1906 he Transferred to aviation during the Libyan war, 1911 Active 1914-1917 on Austrian Front, six kills recorded. Shot down 1917 over Tyrol, spent 12 months learning to walk again. Became freelance pilot post-war for adventurous Italians.
Has the Italian predilection for romanticism but his first love is his aeroplane and his second is the sky. Runs towards danger, especially if innocents are in peril. Large scar on his left leg from shrapnel wound, an old crash injury that required relearning how to walk. Walks with an almost imperceptible limp. he also has an aviators fear of fire.
