Mulecrest
The small village of Mulecrest started out as a few taverns and merchant stands placed at an important trading crossroads. Over time, a small fortification was built to protect traders, and some farm fields and permanent housing were built to accommodate the needs of all travellers. Mulecrest owes its name to the high-quality mules sold there, which are bred in the surrounding areas.
General Information
Population: ~1800 (62% Human, 25% Halfling, 11% Dragonborn, 2% Other)Government: Recently, Norman Townsend has taken over governing Mulecrest, after the previous Overseer, Rosco Merriwell, has gotten severely ill.
Defense: Mulecrest’s official defenses consist of only a few dozen militia who patrol between the fortified guard posts encircling the village. However, nearly fifty heavily armed Dragonborn—veteran caravan escorts who guide traders toward the Xayamid Empire—stand ready to reinforce the town whenever danger threatens.
Commerce: Despite its location at a major crossroads, most large‑scale trade bypasses Mulecrest in favor of Brothers’ Crossing. As a result, the village focuses on the commerce it excels at: breeding and selling pack animals, especially mules, and offering reliable shelter and comfort to the caravans that pass through.
Organizations: This city is home to the same organizations as most cities within the Order of the Golden Sun, with a mix of Order officials and Aphos clergy.
Sigil: A Mule head above a crossroad
