Lady Nok
Mother Nok
Covered in mushrooms and moss, Lady Nok is a rot dryad bound to the large, rotted trunk in the center of the Kel'Nok Mire. According to the Gyésar's historical records, Lady Nok has been a part of the Kel'Nok Mire since the beginning. Long ago, Lady Nok was once a mortal woman who fled into the Swamps as a last resort – the only means of escape from terrible circumstances. Rather than greeting death, she was transformed into a Rot Dryad. Time has muddled her memories, and she has long since forgotten where she came from or what her given name was. The Gyésar, in turn, called her Lady Nok or Mother Nok.
The Gyésar have mixed opinions on the existence of Rot Dryads: are they a symbol of Eresh's mercy or a testament to her cruelty? Lady Nok sees her "immortality" as a blessing. Yes, many Rot Dryads have chosen to die and Lady Nok could die if she so chose, but she enjoys watching over the Gyésar and the Mire. She loathes to see the Gyésar sorrowful or angry on her behalf and does all within her power to bring them joy. Her only complaint (albeit minor) is that she is unable to travel beyond the Mire. However, the Gyésar bring her stories from far and wide; it is enough to sate her. In return, she often grants them boons and blessings.
