Evad Eladrin

Long ago, the Evads – the Life Spirits – blessed a subset of their mortal followers with blessings of life, creating the Eladrin. These blessed few experienced significantly longer lifespans (~750 years). With the potential to acquire a greater trove of wisdom and knowledge in their many years and a direct blessing from the Evads, the Evad Eladrin naturally fell into leadership positions, shifting their role in society as they progressed through the seasons.

Evad Eladrin Subtypes

There are multiple types of Eladrin in the Evad, including those of bestial descent and those of floral descent. In the past – when the miasma was not present – those of bestial descent were commonly nomadic, traveling from the Evad to various lands. Those that chose to settle were often respondible for and excelled at caring for animals. Naturally inclined to be stronger and fierce, they often served as guards and protectors. Those of floral descent were more likely to put down roots. They oversaw the seasonal changes and were naturally more inclined to fill agricultural, healing, and religious roles within the Evad.
  1. Bestial Eladrin – Elk Type (Left) — Tend to be tall and lean; multiple sets of horns with vines or etching that reflect their current season.
  2. Bestial Eladrin – Minotaur Type (Middle Left) — Tend to be stouter and bulky; a single set of curved horns with vines or etching that reflect their current season.
  3. Floral Eladrin – False Floral Type (Middle Right) — One set of horns that originate from the forehead and grow leaves; tail and folded ears
  4. Floral Eladrin – True Floral Type (Right) — Multiple sets of horns; vines that grow alongside hair; pointed, fur-tuffed ears.

Lifespan and Seasonal Changes

All Evad Eladrin progress through the seasons in the same order, though the timepoints at which they switch can vary. Each transition is considered a major life benchmark and is worthy of its own Coming-of-Age ceremony.
  1. Spring (Age: 0 - 150) – Under the protection of Eden
  2. Summer (Age: 150 - 350) – Under the care of Chasca
  3. Autumn (Age: 350 - 600) – Under the revelry of Saffra
  4. Winter (Age: 600 - 750+) – Under the wisdom of Vale

Although not recognized as full adults until they transition to Summer, Spring Eladrin reach maturity between 40-50 years. Additionally, unlike Elves who age throughout their lives, signs of aging don’t begin to show until a Winter Eladrin is over 650.

Dremoran Eladrin vs. Evad Eladrin

Eladrin exist on Dremora where they are believed to be blessings of Life and gifts from Tel'Rhea, the Great Mother. The Evad Eladrin, similarly, are also blessings from the Life Spirits, but they are not identical to Dremoran Eladrin.
  1. Dremoran Eladrin experience all four seasons each year. The Evad Eladrin experience each season for a single, prolonged period of their life, passing sequentially from one to the next as they age.
  2. On Dremora, it isn't uncommon for an Eladrin to be born to non-Eladrin parents. This was also the case for the Evad Eladrin, but the Evads are no longer able to offer such blessings. Thus, the only new Evad Eladrin are those born to two Eladrin parents.
  3. Both Eladrin share seasonal-based changes to their appearance and one or more sets of horns.

The True Floral Eladrin subtype of the Evad Eladrin is the most similar to the Eladrin brought about by Tel'Rhea's blessing.
