Volant Rail Vehicle in The Light of Aestharya | World Anvil

Volant Rail

Speeding through the wilds of Rotheria, connecting distant lands and allowing trade in a matter of hours to days. The Volant Rail once crisscrossed the entire continent of Rotheria, the Evlen Empires direct means of transport for all things, commerce and military. It was common in the days of the empire to be able to travel from one end of the continent to the other is a span of days, to cross dangerous deserts and fiend infested forests, to scale the great Dragonspine itself and to delve deep into the Forges of the Dwarven kingdoms. However after the fall the infrastructire of the Volant Rail was destroyed, its pylons sundered and its records destroyed. Whatever knowledge the Elves had was taken with them when they left.

Power Generation

The Rail is powered by volant Technology, a postiviely charged volant drive and a system of negatively charged pylons counteract regular gravimetric forces. This is done through enchanted Aestharyte.

Propulsion

The volant engine is propelled along the resultant volant field created by the drive and synced with the Pylons along the road that maintain the field. A volant mage can manipulate this field to allow for propulsion

Weapons & Armament

Volant Rail engines are equipped with minimal weapons, there are ballista mounted on each car (3) and one mage per car.

Armor and defense

Volant Rail cars are bult out of light weight materials, mostly wood and some metal in the joining, they are minimally armored as excessive armoring inhibits manipulation of the Volant fields neccessary for propulsion

Communication Tools & Systems

Along Volant railways there are outposts, these outposts have volant magi on duty who communicate via sending stones and messages sent via arcane means to time and indicate any issues with tracks or weather conditions.
