Storm Tiefling

My Father and my Brother are both Storm Tieflings, those of our kind infused with the Elemental energies of Air and Fire. Storm Tieflings tend to have more sparky personalities; they are personable but easily distracted, and tend to either be excitable (like my Father) or supremely overconfident (like my Brother).

Basic Information

Anatomy

Storm Tieflings are bipedal sapients with horns and tails, reminiscent of their Fiendish origins. Their skeletons are about as tough as a standard Human, though the tensile strength of their muscles is higher than that of a Human. They have additional muscle groups to account for the tail, and some of them have a slightly different layout of facial muscles depending on their horn style. The cores of their horns are made of bone, and there is an outer keratin layer that protects it. These horns stop growing once they reach their full "potential", so the horn you see at the tip of a Storm Tiefling's horns is usually present from adolescence. That being said, the outer keratin can be damaged and it will eventually grow back, though it often leaves a bone scar until it grows out and the process is incredibly slow. However, if the horn's inner core is damaged, as in the bones are completely broken, then horn growth stops completely. Storm Tieflings rarely have prehensile tails because of their fins.

Biological Traits

Because of the infusion of the Elemental Planes of Fire and Air, Storm Tieflings embody the trait of lightning. They can innately utilise a shocking grasp, through a variety of strengths from a simple static to a full-on shock. As they become stronger, Storm Tieflings gain the ability to use a smite-like shock spell, as well the ability to fire balls of static from their bodies.

Like all Tieflings, Storm Tieflings have fanged canines. They can also manifest a variety of different types of ear, horn and tail styles, which appear to be inherited. There are no set traits for ears and horns, so these can come from either parent, but their tails are usually finned in appearance, and many Storm Tieflings manifest fractal-like patterns across their bodies, particularly on their shoulders, arms, fins and horns.

70% of Storm Tieflings have goat-like legs, with the other 30% bearing Human-like legs.

Growth Rate & Stages

Storm Tieflings mature at about the same rate that Humans do, though often appear large for their age, and can live to be around 200-400 years old.

When they're born, they have only horn nubs, which slowly start to grow out over time.

Their horn cores reach their full size by the time they're eighteen, but the outer keratin isn't always complete until their early twenties.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Basic Storm Tiefling abilities can be used to power small artifice for a while, so they essentially make really good batteries. My Father also uses his abilities to create Fractal Burns on wood.

Facial characteristics

Fanged canines and pointed ears, usually with quite angular, square features, even among female-presenting Storm Tieflings.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Storm Tieflings have Darkvision, but it's no more special than other species'. Because of their affinity to lightning, they are often resistant to Lightning damage itself.

Storm Tieflings possess a condition known as the Legacy of the Storm.
