Crystalline Legacy

The Crystalline Legacy is a series of abilities possessed by the majority of Crystal Tieflings that are passed down from parent to child. It only presents in Crystal Tieflings, and lack of the Crystalline Legacy is considered an abnormality. I have never met another Crystal Tiefling without it, but in all honesty, we're not that common in Tordronnen anyway. I have never met a Crystal Tiefling who presented the Advanced Legacy.

Standard Crystalline Legacy

The basic Legacy presents the following Innate Abilities:

• Darkvision
• Resistance to Thunder/Sonic damage
• The ability to cast the Thunderclap Cantrip
• With training, the ability to cast the Thunderwave spell
• With training, the ability to cast the Shatter spell

Advanced Crystalline Legacy

It is possible for Crystal Tieflings to unlock additional traits of the Crystalline Legacy, but only if they are of a suitable constitution and able to dedicate time to training them.

With training, the following abilities can be unlocked:

• Improvements to hearing, giving advantage to Perception checks related to it
• An increase to mental or social abilities
• The ability to infuse additional damage into Thunder/Sonic-based spells
• The ability to generate a temporary shield made out of crystal and air

Superior Crystalline Legacy

Thought to be the epitome of the Crystalline Legacy, only the strongest of Crystal Tieflings can unlock these abilities. It takes training, mental fortitude, a high constitution, and a great deal of patience.

With training, the following abilities can be unlocked:

• Resistance to piercing damage
• Immunity to poison
• Increased constitutional resilience
• The ability to cast the Crystal Door spell

Transmission & Vectors

The Crystalline Legacy is passed down genetically from parent to child. It cannot skip generations.

Affected Groups

Crystal Tieflings of all sexes carry the Crystalline Legacy from birth.

History

The Crystalline Legacy came about after the infusion of Elemental Earth and Air traits into Tieflings, alongside the usual Fiendish traits. The usual Tiefling abilities were replaced with new ones, which were more in line with the new Elemental infusion, and new bloodlines were born from these early transformations. It's a typical transformational origin story, really.

Cultural Reception

While initially considered a disease amongst "Pure" Tieflings, the Crystalline Legacy is no longer considered as such by the masses, and is instead viewed as Innate Power. Because we're not very common though, it's looked upon with a measure of awe in some places.
