Body Augmentation
Body Augmentation is technically a subset of the Shape Change spell, but specifically geared towards changing the Druid's own body to enhance certain physical attributes. For example, when done successfully, a Druid could change the shape, color, and over all look of any part of their body, gain greater strength, speed, as well as sharper eye sight and hearing. As with the Shape Change spell, it is very dangerous, the slightest mishap could lead to permeant damage or death of the Druid.
The most common, and easiest to pull off, uses of the spell are ones that do not physically alter any part of the body but instead improve its ability to function as it was intended. Examples of this include, making the eyes see more sharply, improved hearing, and even the sense of smell and taste stronger.
Effect
The Druids body changes its shape to that of which the spell was using as a template, or certain parts of the Druid's own body become enhanced.
Side/Secondary Effects
Once changed, the Druid gains any physical benefits or disadvantages of the new form. Such as increased smell or hearing if assuming certain animal forms, but lost of the ability to speak or manipulate objects with human hands. The spell can be uncomfortable, and even painful at times, but not always.
If the spell is performed incorrectly, interrupted, or used without a template to create something unnatural, the results can be catastrophic and even deadly for the Druid.
Manifestation
When the spell becomes active, the body mutates in a logical way. All the shared body parts shift between themselves, new body parts grow or shrink out of an appropriate location. There are no lights, smells, or sounds unless the Druid makes them himself during the change.
Source
The template used by the spell is found via the The Life Stream. A magical undercurrent that links all living things. Druids can see the life stream and use it in a variety of ways. One of which is to understand an animals form completely and to use it as a template for changing his own bodies appearance.
Without a template, the Druid needs complete understanding of the form he or she wishes to assume. The life stream is made up of millions of strands, each connected to a different part of the body. Modifying these strands without full understanding can be disasterous.
