The Circle
Immortal Druids
The Circle are in immortal group of 7 Druids that have lead Castayu Del'yir since the impact that decimated Ovdrassil. Since stepping back from being the soul leaders of Shard, they have advised from the back lines. The enigma that surrounds them has given them an untrustworthy status with some of the world leaders, but for others it shows a beacon of unprejudiced order. The 7 have been known to control unimaginable brute power from the forests of Occulas or the animals that live within them, they can move from one location to the other, magically through seemingly any form of plant life. To this day, the Circle are still considered world leaders and guide Castayu De'yir.
No one knows or has ever lived long enough to explain where exactly the Circle came from. Their first appearance was when the World Tree, Ovdrassil became a popular home for many Magic Folk and elves that became attracted by the presence of the World Tree. At some point after the Great Voyage, but long before Kuj'anast was destroyed, the Circle revealed themselves to the growing population around what they would call their 'Sacred Tree.' They taught the people of Ovdrassil secrets of nature, ancient magic only they knew, and helped them to built what could become a city.
They have been involved in several world-changing events, such as the Declasian Exodus, Samus II Impact, and the destruction of Kuj'anast.
History
Natural Guardian
Unbeknown to the people they lead or come into contact with, the Circle were once a part of Ovdrassil, the first World Tree of Magic Earth. With the birth of Ovdrassil they began as a single contentiousness within its bark, remaining there for a century until the tree matured. This being called itself Lord Visas. Lord Visas was one of the Natural Guardians of Magic Earth, born at the same time as Magic Earth's creation with the birthright of protecting the world. Visas separated from the tree when Magic Earth was still young, and many fields were still treeless or void of most fauna. It watched as the region surrounding Ovdrassil became filled with life, and it soon felt responsible for protecting the world tree and the life around it. Eventually Visas discovered the Aether and their Archons. Duobus was accommodating, and was the first of the Archons that Visas interacted with. Language came naturally to it. For the time that followed, Visas communed with the Archons nearest Ovdrassil and defended the tree from the infectious Vardent. Lord Visas continued this way of life until the Aether lost their battle against the Vardent King. It saw the rise and fall of the Vardent afterwards, following the sudden imprisonment of the Vardent King. Lord Visas became reclusive, spending most of it's time within the bark of Ovdrassil, rarely leaving only to defend its home, usually a small, mindless Vardent attack. Centuries later, a century later, around 800 BC, the first elves migrated to Magic Earth and began construction of their home, Kuj'anast. Visas kept a close eye on its new neighbours but had very little interaction with them. Several years later the Burning Invasion forced Visas to leave Ovdrassil again where it discovered another evil was attempting to invade Magic Earth. Visas saw the decimation of landmarks and the culling of animals and people alike, it even considered aiding the Order of Injustira to put a stop to the evil. But Visas was pressured to make a decision when Dantézan, the Greater Demon of Ruin, set its eyes upon Ovdrassil. Lord Visas split itself apart into 7 equal beings, sacrificing any humanity it had gained from its years discovering Magic Earth so far. It put up a valiant fight, defending the World Tree successfully until the invasion was over. Visas' 7 beings immediately fell into an eternal slumber, becoming absorbed into Ovdrassil to recover for centuries to come. Sometime between now and Ovdrassil becoming inhabited by Magic Folk, the 7 beings of Visas re-awakened as the Circle. They were each a shard of what Lord Visas was, and lacked empathy and memory of they were before. The Circle
Around 400 AD the first Magic Folk to migrate to Ovdrassil began building their new homes, and for several decades after the Circle did not awaken. However in 540 AD the Circle emerged from the bark of the world tree in secret, and was very wary of the mysterious beings now living around the base of Ovdrassil. Time passed, and the Circle revealed themselves formerly to the people of Ovdrassil, planning to guide them to live with the World Tree. And if they chose not to accept their help, the Circle would force them out. For decades they taught the basics of nature and Druidic magic to the settlers, and with it they gained reassurance that Ovdrassil was safer. They did not know why, but something within them drove the Circle to protect and serve the World Tree's survival.Fall of Kuj'anast
Prior to the 8th Century, there was a great city known as Kuj'anast, not too far away from the still standing Grand Library of Kuj'anast. Kuj'anast was a sprawling, ancient city that was built even before Asmodius City, it was carved from stone and grown from trees. The native elves of Magic Earth that voyaged from Non-magic Earth many centuries before the other races and the Great Voyage, called it their home. However, when they they began to research too deep into an unknown magic, later to be discovered as Vardent, the Circle knew that a new power had to stand as a permenant body to keep and restore balance. Even if it meant a great sacrifice. In 776, the Circle decided to intervene before the Kujan's could recover the power, rumoureed to have been found deep under the ground of Kuj'anast. The circle, from within their sacred haven known as the Sanctuary, near the current Shard City, summoned great, unfathomable roots from the depths of the ground that flung high into the air and wrapped tight around the towers of Kuj'anast. The monolithic tendrils of nature slammed down on buildings and ultimately left the city in ruins. Some, who know the source of such a horrific tragedy, say that it was a great wrong-doing. But many more understood that the city was becoming corrupted and was too unstable. The Circle remained in contact with the High Elves of Non-magic Earth during this event, and it was agreed with them that their Kujan faction had to be dealt with... or risk a greater threat.Samus II Impact
Contact with the Circle was little and sparse, contributing to their mysterious background for some time up until the Samus II impact in 921. In an instant the Circle drained the World Tree of much of its power and absorbed the souls of the people living in Ovdrassil. The entire population suddenly vanished and in a way reborn. They appeared minutes later, kept hidden and safe beneath the very earth as the Circle weaved a magical barrier to protect them and the roots of the World Tree. From this gigantic ritual the Circle had indirectly reborn the Fae as they were then as something else. They were still the same people, the same minds and the same souls, but they had been forever weaved into the web of life that Ovdrassil was the centre of.Physical Description
