Mental Trauma
Trajan lost his whole clan to a powerful evil he does not speak of. He only managed to save the egg that would later hatch Othim, his grandson. This is what led him into an exile so far away from his desert homeland.

Trajan just wanted to see his grandson grow up, but after being selflessly aided by a group of brave and noble heroes he has taken to defending the good things of the world in a more active way, unwilling to let his apathy hurt his last remaining family.
