Slugbob

Slugbob are a highly intellectually developed form of the common Slug , differentiated mainly by this advanced intelligence, and complex social capacity. Physiology varies little from that of Slug, with individuals typically manifesting a more upright posture, and highly developed linguistic ability. The luminous eye is still present, and typically further developed, allowing for more subtle expression and inspection. They are often capable of fairly complex manipulation of objects and signals, and skilled individuals are may be able to contort themselves into intricate shapes.
Slugbob are probably the most civilised life-form in this world, and their societies range form small tribes of a dozen or so to larger townships of perhaps a hundred or so. As their Slug forebears do, they adapt readily to a wide range of habitats, and frequently travel great distances for both fun and profit, as well as tradition. Most slugbob are land-dwelling, and favour the edges of forests, which afford them a range of foraging opportunities, but they may be found almost anywhere, and tend to spend most of the day in the open, preferring to shelter at night. They require only a small amount of sustenance, but frequently indulge in prepared fruits, nuts and other seeds, and fungi. Slugbob love jam and campfires, and many employ agricultural and other technologies, including mathematics and a wide variety of tools and simple machines, and some have been known to undertake impressive engineering projects, with varying degrees of success.
Slugbob communicate primarily by means of subtle non-verbal signals, to which they are innately sensitive, but also make wide use of a sort of language, which, while apparently obeying no rules, is easily learned by outsiders, thanks to the songs and chants performed at Bob's many rituals and celebrations. Tribes meet with their neighbours frequently to exchange knowledge and goods, and they will readily travel great distances for this purpose. These gatherings are typically jovial occasions, and accompanied by feasts and various performances and ceremonies.
It should be noted that "Bob" refers to the abbreviated form of Slugbob, and is also the plural of Bob. Collective nouns are too many to list, and dependant on the particular structure and purpose of the group, such as tribe, society, etc.
