Jailenburg Settlement in The Known World: Over the Edge of Redoute | World Anvil

Jailenburg

Sitting in the middle of the small straight that connects the two halves of the Known World, Jailenburg has been a pivotal city to the east and west of the Know World as it controls both trade as well as a military checkpoint helping to keep the peace of whichever army would attempt to pass from one side of the world to another. This role has been one that has helped to keep Jailenburg of great import to the rest of the world. The importance of this city is also grown as the city of Jailenburg is the traditional site of summits and meetings for treaties, peace accords, trade deals, and alliances thanks largely in part to the strict neutrality long held by the Häussler ruling family.

With the recent upheaval that has ensued from the sacking of Jailenburg, many traders and merchants have been seeking alternate methods for moving their goods to the other side of the Known World. This has lead to a slower rebuilding after the siege of the city. The three large breaches in the walls from the siege are very slowly being rebuilt, though those efforts have been mostly focused upon the tunnels and underground being reinforced to support the wall above.

The remaining denizens move about with eyes cast downward. The continued military presence is most manifest by the continued patrols of men-at-arms and knights as well as the dusk curfew where all are required
