Basic Information

Anatomy

Although humans have very vulnerable bodies in comparison to other Federation species, they are highly adaptable to a wide range of environments thanks to the ecological diversity of their home-world and can live in almost any climate long-term. They have incredible endurance, and although they may not have the same beneficial evolutionary lines as other species, it’s this endurance that wins out in the end.   They are however, highly aware of their physical incapacitates and will guard them with technological prowess in combat. They have a long history of military action, and next to other Federation species they’ve been known to throw punches with the best. Males tend to be physically stronger than the females, however females tend to live longer.   Although Humans have a tendency to become sick from pathogens quite a lot compared to other species, they are very resilient to disease and can fight it off so generally have a naturally strong immune system. Other species consider the outward manifestation of sickness generally fatal, whereas humans can often shrug most illness off. With the advent of nano-immune technology however sickness is not as common even within Humans anymore - though it is advised that both Humans and other Sapient species make sure their immunity databases are up to date before interactions.   Humans are omnivorous and can eat just about anything, and draw nutrition from it. Put a human and any other species on a ship that’s run out of rations, and they’ll be the last to die, because they’ll eat you and then their own body mass before they’ll die.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Humans are very socially complex compared to other species but they’re unpredictably (or predictably, if you look at everything else) adaptive. Whereas they do have complex groups and communication systems, you’re just as likely to find a human that goes about on its own on a long term basis as those in groups - but they appear to be a minority. They are very emotive and physical, but can fake expressions well, so what one sees is not always what is actually happening. Females are the most social of the species. Generally they are gender equal, with residual Patriarchal leanings, though it appears to be on the decline. Social dynamics of the Human species can oftentimes be difficult for other sapient peers to both interpret and follow.
