The Sorceress Character in The Kingdom of Ntiklon | World Anvil

The Sorceress

The greatest direct enemy of the Prophet, His Disciples and all of their descendants, the Sorceress' title is quite apt. She is an appalling powerful mage who has learned how to keep her memories and an echo of her first incarnation alive through successive reincarnations, even possessing her reborn body on occasion. Originally born to a medicine man and woman and learned their arts, the Sorceress craved more. She desired more knowledge and power and rarely cared for how she gained it. This led her to being quite skilled in manipulating people, especially men, to gain power and anything else she desired. She is incredibly vindictive when spurned though, and will viciously curse any man who rejects her. The Prophet, along with a few spiritual guides, is one such man who rejected the advances of the Sorceress.   While she remained more in the open before and during the War of Liberation, the Sorceress shifted to working in the shadows of the Hursan Empire after her defeat at the end of the War of Liberation. She manipulated, made false promises and seduced many people in the Imperial hierarchy and eventually became (for all intents and purposes) the shadow empress of the Hursan Empire in its last years. She was essentially the driving force for the Hursan Wars against the Kingdom and was finally slain by Ntiklon Eipepenus, the 12th King and father of the current King Ntiklon Lagivu Gloines. The shade/echo of the Sorceress did survive but continues to whisper and guide her agents from the shadows to avoid the attention of the Royal Order of the Serpent. The Order knows many of her tricks, so she continually refines and develops new ones to sneak by the Order's many agents and scry-ers. She continues to gather allies in the myriad kingdoms east and north of the Kingdom, portraying herself as a benevolent guide who in reality is hollowing out the ambitious to bend to her will.
