Landelver Settlement in The Kingdom Era | World Anvil

Landelver

Demographics

Landelver is a small resting town for all kinds of travellers and sees a large population of both humans and dwarfs.

History

Landelver was formally called Margis, it was changed due to the negative stigma brought to it due to the ancient mine stories associated with the name Margis. More than five thousand years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Margis Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Crystal Cliff Cave. The wealth the mine brought to Odum was significant and led to it becoming one of the richest cities in all of the Isles. Disaster then struck when a large force of Orcs and Goblins attacked the north with the goal of seizing the mine and it’s riches. Battle ensued outside and within the mines, killing many as the mines and caverns collapsed during the violence, forever burying the wealth within. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Crystal Cliff Cave was lost. For centuries, rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers and opportunists to the area around Margis, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years, people have resettled the area.
