The Tmezin-Iluyod House War

While all Houses of Kazed are unified under the political and social contracts of the Scarlet Concord (and from there the Conclave of Kazed), there is still conflict and division as the interests of the many Houses conflict with each other in most cases. Some cases, however, derive from old grudges. The Houses of Tmezin and Iluyod are exemplars of these old grudges. The two Houses have long clashed prior to their arrival to Kazed and in fact efforts were made to keep the two clans separate from each other to avoid issues, such was the depth of their grudge. However, both arrived at Kmiyel and thus were nearly at each other's throats from the outset. When Mayam was shown to be the upcoming center of politics and society, the then First Sovereign Menon Zma'ev gave the two Houses a choice. One House would be based in Mayam while the other would center itself in Kmiyel. The Iluyod chose first and chose Kmiyel, leaving the Tmezin to move on to Mayam. While this eased the tension somewhat, the two lineages continued to snipe and oppose each other at nearly every turn.   During the reigns of the second (Ankhron Mekhnir) and third Sovereigns (Kamu Bayeh), the tensions between the Iluyod and Tmezin continued to boil further and further as more outright deleterious and sabotage-level actions occured. Things finally boiled over during the Fourth Sovereign Beshbu's reign into outright inter-House warfare. This occured when the head of House Tmezin declared the war when agents of House Iluyod openly attacked a Tmezin cargo ship and stole its goods for themselves. The inter-House war, the first (and thus far only official one in Kazed) would drag on for 30 years, through to Nimkay's reign. His predecessor, Beshbu Zma'ev, was of the belief that such conflicts should be resolved only by the participating Houses. Nimkay agreed in principle but differed in that he felt he should intervene when the war started affecting others outside the two Houses, which by his reign was most certainly happening. From piratical strikes to assassinations, all the way up to direct assaults in open and closed areas, neither House was subtle nor careful with how they were prosecuting their war at this point.   To put an end to this, Nimkay gathered a coalition of military forces from across the system under his direct command and led these troops to the major estates and strongholds of both Houses. Short skirmishes followed to cow both Houses and to bring their main leaders before him. Nimkay then brought everyone back to Tzemno Spire to hash out a permanent and peaceful resolution to this conflict. The talks took place in the Plaza of Ankhron, a large space in front of the main pathway to the Sovereign's Palace. There, both Houses outlined the historical and contemporary reasons for the grudges and conflict as well as arguing for why Nimkay should show each House mercy for the destruction that was wrought. Before rendering judgement, Nimkay elaborated to each House precisely how their war had affected the other people around them. From the needless deaths of innocents, the losses of valuable materials and the fear spread across the realm due to the conflict. He ordered each House to convene amongst themselves to determine one way they could help atone for their actions, which would be on top of the judgement handed down from himself.
