The Hyades Cluster

Once, the Hyades Cluster was a flourishing, vibrant, region of space, where dozens of alien races prepared to expand into the stars, ushering in a golden age of inter-species trade, communication and growth. That all changed when these young races encountered a new, malevolent force: The Empire of Terra.   Sweeping across the Hyades Cluster, fleeing their homeworld for unknown reasons, the human invaders claimed one star system after another, destroying the native races in a series of genocides that changed the course of history. When the massacres were done, the humans declared their united empire the sole government of this region of space. The Hyadian Imperium ruled with an iron fist for over 200 years, until the ambitious empire completely and unceremoniously fell apart.   300 years after The Collapse, a scattered and damaged humanity finds itself fighting to survive in the place it itself once scoured. The pirates that now rule the void, selfish plans of new planetary kingdoms, and reemergence of alien races thought long dead make the Hyades Cluster a dangerous place for the travelers who find themselves trapped here, looking for a new place among the stars.
