The Howling Abyss

The Ninth Great Cycle

The Howling Abyss, the place where all evil and dark magics originate within the Howllands. It is a place of eternal torment and chaos for all those beings that dwell in its unceasing depths. The realm is comprised of six levels or abysses. The Forest of Despair, The Desert of Bones, The Wailing Void, The Furnace of Malice, The Ocean of Night, and The Infinite Chasm. These levels are all interconnected by a seventh hidden abyss wedged and broken between the other six this abyss is called The Hollow. Each abyss is host to a variety of devils, demons, and spirits alike, the abyss themselves are endless in their depths and magnitude, yet they feed and effect each other much the same to how regions of the world effect each other. The laws of reality are completely separate from the laws set within the Other Realm. Their are six laws that must be followed by everything in the realm whether it be beast, material, or magic, The first is that nothing stays dead the realm is an endless cycle of death and reincarnation there is no true release from the timeless slaughter and agony that is the abysses. The second law is that the realm itself cannot be destroyed, where there is good there must be evil or all existence would cease, balance is the only truth. The third law is that there is to be no interbreeding of creatures within the realm, hybrids are to be imprisoned in the Infinite Chasm for eternity else their shear presence and power would destroy all of reality. The fourth law is that no mortal is permitted to gain access to the secrets of the realm, any knowledge of the inner workings or secrets of the abyss' would be a threat to the very balance of existence. The fifth law is that there must always be an ultimate master of the realm and all of its abyss' without a total evil to which all things have to strive to either over throw or destroy there would be nothing no reason to exist. The final law is that there can be no magic powerful enough to destroy the realm within the realm any presence of this magic will be sought out and purged from the realm by all the inhabitants within. But these laws are all held under the supreme law of the land The Fiends Code, the code is not another list of laws but a solemn vow taken by all creatures within the abyss'. All creatures that dwell within the realms depths have taken an unbreakable vow to uphold and obey the laws of the realm and the orders of the supreme evil, but fiends are a treacherous lot and few truly obey the ultimate evil but they do obey the realm for fear of the unspeakable consequences.
