Dragon's Breath (Sexually Transmitted Disease)
Also known as Devil's Breath.
Dragon's Breath is a sexually transmitted disease in the world of Terra Firma. The first instance of someone having Dragon's Breath is way back in the Era of Demise, where it is said that Yharm, the Goddess of the Damned, tainted humans, giving them STDs so they couldn't enjoy one of the pleasures in life, sexual intercourse. It is said that Dragon's Breath feels like your insides are on fire. It is unclear where it started exactly, but it is rumored to definitely be common with the Quattuor species, a race of four armed humanoids with immense rage and aggression, as well as an increase in libido. The last documented case of Dragon's Breath was fairly recent, only a few years ago, when someone from Terra Maxia (Daggerveil to be specific) had to be hospitalized. A human male nicknamed "Bubba Blue" was hospitalized November 14th, 3166, at the Daggerveil hospital, and was seen by the physician, Pickles. Bubba didn't want to say how he contracted the STD, but it is rumored that he was attempting sexual intercourse with his horses, one being a stallion named Garrett, and a mare by the name of Petunia. This is just speculation of course, but based on people's interactions with Bubba, it seems fairly certain. He was in extreme agony for several days, until finally he was given an expensive antibiotic that cleared away the infection, and he is still living to this day, although he left the public eye soon after, and nobody knows where he went. This is just one case of the contraction of Dragon's Breath, there are many more, but none are as funny.
Transmission & Vectors
Through sexual intercourse. Dragon's Breath can be given to both male and female partners.
Causes
It is unknown what caused Dragon's Breath to be, but it is rumored to have started by Yharm as a way to punish mortals for laying with one another.
Symptoms
Intense, often described as fiery, pain in the infected's genital region. It can quickly spread to the rest of their loins, as well as their stomach and lower chest area. It is said to be agonizing.
Treatment
There is an antibiotic that can be used to counteract the bacteria, although it is very expensive, so most people don't have access to it, having to suffer, and in some cases, die from Dragon's Breath.
Prognosis
The prognosis for Dragon's Breath is extreme pain and suffering, and without treatment, sometimes even death.
Sequela
Often those who contract Dragon's Breath never want to have intercourse ever again, for the fear that they could contract it a second time.
Affected Groups
Any age, any body type, any genetic code, any sex, etc. It seems that nobody is safe. It is rumored that the body does create antibodies for it, but there have been no cases of this working. Any race seems to be able to contract Dragon's Breath, not just humans and Quattuor.
Hosts & Carriers
It is unknown exactly what can carry the STD, it may just be humanoids, it could be animals too. There isn't enough research in the cause and carriers to really know for sure.

Practice safe sex, or abstain from it.
Epidemiology
There haven't been many cases in the past decade, but in the Era of Demise, it was said to have spread very quickly, as the symptoms wouldn't happen quickly back then, for some reason, they show up much faster now, so it isn't spread as quickly.
History
It is said that the first incident was long ago, during the Era of Demise. It is believed that Yharm created the STD as a way to punish the mortals for laying with one another. Seeking pleasure, a man and a woman would have intercourse, only to get this incredibly painful and debilitating infection. It is said that it would stop people from reproducing as well, which may have been another reason for Yharm to do this.
Cultural Reception
The reception of this is that it is incredibly painful and to avoid it at all cost. Usually those who get it are frowned upon, since it is now uncommon.
