Darvaq's World Crumbling Trippy Trip (Mind Games)

*Excerpt taken from Session Synopsis - Details about Darvaq, the Lich's, Mind Games*   After another hour of walking, our group finally made it to the train depot, where it was totally empty, except for a train, ready to depart. The train and the station were located in the middle of an open field, different from the coast trail and the forest trail they were walking on prior. Across from the track, there was a strange oddity, a graveyard, seemingly dropped in the middle of this field, was sitting across the station. It was surrounded by trees, as if it was copy pasted from the middle of the forest. Inside the graveyard, there was a large group of commoners, huddled around something. Our crew stood back as Hurricane did some stealth, using his Tiamat's Gale to soar up to a tree so he could see into the crowd. After saying to the group that the strange people have no weapons and are almost like in a trance, our crew enters the graveyard, except for Aerias and Nigel, who stand out to keep watch. Hurricane notices that what the group of strange people are huddled around is a deep grave, with nothing in it. Behind it, there is a gravestone with words written on it in a language that he cannot understand. Elune, with Kalid's help, managed to push herself into the group of people, finally seeing and hearing what they are doing. They are staring at the grave intently, while growling and mumbling really deeply and strangely. She goes up the gravestone and she can actually read what it says, as it is in Celestial that she can understand. It says "Grave of the Goddess." As she ponders what this means, she puts her hand up to it, feeling a negative energy, when suddenly, a hand reaches out of the crowd, grabbing her wrist, but immediately pulling back in agony, as her ethereal essence burned the being. It was the Lich, Darvaq, who are group is seeing for the second time (William, Hurricane, and Skinny P, that is).   While Elune and our group realizes what just happened, she and Kalid get surrounded by all the people in the group, as Darvaq introduces himself, finally meeting the Goddess, Elune, for himself, as he had heard rumors. He vows to finally *successfully* kill them and damn their souls for eternity, but manages to notice Skinny Pelvis, wondering why he is there, fighting against him. After some banter, and almost switching sides, Skinny P. decides that Darvaq is a cunt and deserves to die. Darvaq manages to have that group of people surrounding Elune and Kalid turn to dust, and summons the undead to pop out of graves in the graveyard. He tells them that the people surrounding the grave were just a distraction to lure them into this trap. He then disappears, asking them to die for real this time, but before he leaves, he makes the graveyard all wavy, like a bad trip, causing everyone inside to become woozy and dizzy. Every attack they made had disadvantage, as the world was spinning crazily. They looked around, and noticed that the exit to the graveyard was gone, and that they were suddenly floating in an odd void of purple clouds and lightning. Knowing this is some trick of Darvaq, they press on, fighting everything and wondering what the fuck is actually happening. Dozens of zombies rise from the crypts, attempting to consume the flesh of our group, but manage to succumb to the divine powers of our crew. As the battle progresses, our group gets more and more confused and dizzy, spinning endlessly in a trippy world made by Darvaq. Skinny P and Elune are able to figure out that this world is all in their head, and that they are not actually tripping, but everyone else thinks they were affected by magic or drugged. As the zombies continued to get slaughtered, they pooled together, creating massive ogre like zombies that were immensely stronger. With the introduction of these strong enemies, also came the incredible bullshittery that Darvaq was waiting to pull. As they were all fighting, the corners of the graveyard started to crumble and fall into a whirlpool like void downwards, spiraling purple clouds and violent lightning engulfing everything that fell down there. Every couple minutes, more and more of the ground would crumble, concerning our crew as their footing got more and more dangerous. Without having too much problems (other than thinking they were tripping balls), our group managed to fight the zombies and the behemoth zombies, as well as escaping the crumbling floor, before they all fell to their doom. The first ogre zombie managed to fall into the void as Hurricane was running to the far side of the graveyard, which was seemingly unaffected by the collapse, and the other one was pushed in to the void by Kalid, where it was eviscerated by the lightning.   Hurricane made it easily to the safety of solid ground, and so did Elune. William, however, was almost toast, as he nearly fell into the void, but managed to catch himself. Skinny P. managed to use his bone wheel to sprint his way to safety, and Kalid managed to hop his way to and fro, just barely making it to the safe ground as the rest of the area they were just on crumbled into the abyss. Our party, wondering how they wake up from this hell, now knowing it's all in their heads, attempts to will their way out of this trippy graveyard, trapped in a seemingly different plane of existence, one that makes you want to vomit by the trippiness. As they attempt to continue forward, Darvaq appears, taunting the crew, pleading for them to die already, as he is surely going to get in trouble by Yharm. The group argues and threatens the Lich, but he is seemingly invulnerable, dodging all their attacks with ease, and easily besting them in combat. He manages to push them off the ledge, leaving them hanging over the void, all of them only hanging on just barely. Darvaq liked Skinny P, so he wants to leave him last, so he instead goes over to Hurricane, and attempts to step on his fingers, but Skinny Pelvis manages to pull himself up, and shoot Darvaq in the side of the head, which, because he was distracted by almost stepping on Hurricane, he manages to actually hit him. Causing him to fall over, giving them just enough time to pull everyone up. Darvaq congratulates the crew on their tenacity and compliments their grit. Especially Elune and Skinny P. whom he shows some new respect for. He gives the the opportunity to live, for now, allowing himself to take the bitching from Yharm, so that they can cause destruction wherever they go (as they usually do), and so that he has more time to prepare his attack for them, so that he can torture and flay them. He likes the games he plays with them, and doesn't want it to end right now. This was most certainly odd, but they were sick to death of Darvaq and wanted to get out of his trippy hell and get the fuck away from him. Almost seeming to have a change of heart, the party seems to believe him, jumping into the void through these open graves that are listed with the names of our party. William was the last one to jump, as he definitely didn't want to trust Darvaq, but figured what was the worst that could happen? He dies again? They all jump, and go through 72 hours of their own personal hell, falling downwards for what seems like an eternity, forced to watch their greatest fear play out over and over again, causing some slight insanity in all of them. They all land outside the train station, now populated with people. There, Nigel and Aerias wonder where our party went, as they walked into the graveyard, the whole thing disappeared, and then about 2 minutes later, they showed up falling from the sky. Even though the entire time for them was approximately 74 hours, it was only 2 minutes in the real world, just proving it more that it was all in their minds (but where did they go? How did that happen? Maybe we will find out...) We all look around, and that graveyard is no longer there, just the open field that should have been there to begin with. After wondering what the fuck just happened, they take a moment to collect themselves...   Examples of What Our Crew Went Through in Their Personal Hells: -Elune, after dropping through the void created by Darvaq for our crew to leave his trippy hell, she feels the immense sorrow and suffering that the goddess did eons ago. For 72 hours, she felt her bones burn and her flesh get flayed off of her body. She saw the brief moment of the Goddess' demise, and the immense suffering she felt in that moment, over and over. The memory of this torment is forever burned into her mind, a scar of the events of old. -Hurricane, after dropping through the void created by Darvaq, he lived through his own personal hell for 72 hours, like the rest of our party. He was given the one thing he wanted, wings. He soared far above Terra Firma, happily gliding, checking out the sights and feeling the wind in his feathers, when suddenly, his wings are ripped from him, and he plummets to the ground. He quickly drops and falls to the ground, feeling extreme fear as he impacts the ground like a bag of bricks. As the lights go black, it starts over, back soaring way up high, aware of the events that just happen, and what will happen yet again, a personal hell just for him. -William, after dropping through the void created by Darvaq, finds himself back at his daughter's 12th birthday party. He notices that, he is immobolized, finding himself stuck in place as events play out the same way as he remembers. Guards entering the building, seemingly inconspicuously, but then everything quickly turns to bloodshed. He is forced to be an outside observer. He sees himself attempting to fight back, but quickly gets overrun, unable to protect his wife and daughter. Seeing them scream and suffer as they are murdered in front of him as they were years prior. Over and over he was stuck watching this from the outside. Standing still as an observer, unable to speak, unable to fight, unable to move...   The thing he constantly thinks about over and over in his mind, replaying for real in front of him, is really traumatic for him.
