The Secrets of Sutherlands
Inspired by the general article on the region.
The High Forest is one of them: it grows in the hilly foothills of The Green Tips north of the capital Highfort.
The woods are bordered in the east by The Shimmering Seas and an extensive range of interconnected sea caves run from the shorelines to miles inside the land - the underground sea lagoon it creates is well known of the Selkes. The name the Selkes give the underground loch is The Lochstar 2
The Selkes use the underground tunnels and caverns as a passageway to enter Alven and mix, unseen, with the human population. Some of the caves tunnels even reach Highfort and the Thane's Keep.
The Waneweald is the other sentient forest of Sutherlands. it is linked to the god Carnos and its ancient groves made up of The Bitter Fir are known to provide an otherworldly and often deadly experience to the unwary traveller.
The Ferians from the Lake are very different from the ones in Loch Morgunt. Their society is ruled by democratically elected Heralds. Their government is called The Ferian Demony.
This Ferian factions rebelled against the very hierarchical construct of the 'Old Ways' as embodied by the Lord and Ladies of Loch Morgunt. For a Demonious Ferian, freedom and equality is a firm belief and they would go to great lengths to preserve it.
