The Lament of Gaii’nus

Religious event

Ca. 95 A.C

In a sunlit meadow, Sol’nus found the subdued Gaii’nus and tenderly asked about her sorrow, to which she replied that despite the world's beauty, her heart ached because the animals lacked meaning and purpose.

As the golden light of day bathed the landscape in warmth, Sol’nus approached Gaii’nus, finding her sitting in a serene meadow. It was a picturesque scene populated by an array of creatures and vibrant blossoms in every conceivable color. Yet despite the beauty surrounding her, Gaii’nus remained subdued. He knelt beside her, his voice imbued with tenderness. “Oh, sweet sister, it is clear to all beings in this world that thou hast sorrow in thy heart. Pray tell, what in this grand world bears down upon you so heavily?”   With a wistful smile that masked her melancholy, Gaii’nus responded softly, “Oh, dear brother of mine, great indeed is the world our father has created, yet it feels equally desolate. My heart aches with emptiness; all the animals that the great Uro’nus has fashioned are simple beings, and their lives, though full of motion, are devoid of meaning and purpose.”
