As Torvik'lusta ages its scales grow darker eventually becoming a light blueish colour that marks it as an elder. Over the years they shed their old or damaged scales to grow a fresh undamaged set, they are extremely vulnerable while in this scaleless state.

The Torvik'lusta normally had white-coloured scales with various special markings along their backs. There were extremely rare circumstances that allowed a Torvik'lusta to be born with black scales, these unfortunate souls were often either cast out if they were lucky. The unlucky ones were often killed and eaten by their parents.
