The Cleansing Hurricane is the name of the great purge carried out by some of the most powerful djinnis and their courts. They spent five years creating the greatest unnatural storm ever seen, and sent it through the elemental planes, the djinni courts had their forces invade immediately after.

The Cleansing Hurricane was the culmination of the hatred many of the djinnis felt towards the other elemental beings, and especially the other subspecies of genie.   With the defeats suffered at the hands of the efreeti, the dao's continued refusal to engage in trade talks and the marid slave rebellions in the border regions were enraging many of the djinni courts. The djinnis were becoming desperate to regain control, and in their desperation they made a horrifying decision, they would cleanse the border regions.   The Cleansing Hurricane was a combined effort of almost all of the djinni courts most powerful servants and leaders, and even with all of this magical power and ability, it is unknown how long it took to finish, some say decades, others say millennia. Many of the servants were forced to give so much power to this process it killed them, but the leaders of the cleansing deemed it as necessary losses. The few djinni courts who were not involved were kept in the dark, especially Isha The Magnificent, whom all djinnis knew would be completely against even the thought of doing something like this, and would assist the enemy.   The invasion forces were meant to follow in the wake of the hurricane, fighting under the storms it had left. The forces were made up of mostly inhabitants from the plane of air, especially air elementals, and they were lead by djinnis, along with smaller divisions of djinni elite forces. Most of the forces did not know of the hurricane, they only saw the result when they entered the planes. The forces flew in through air gates created by the djinnis, thereby almost teleporting directly to the border of the opposing plane.   The hurricane destroyed large parts of the border regions in the plane of fire and plane of water, and after it had destroyed and killed, it maintained an altered version of the border regions for a time after.   The plane of fire was subjected to huge storms and blasts of wind, destroying the lands and killing the inhabitants with terrifying efficiency. The efreeti warbands who were near the border were nearly all wiped out, and what the storm did not kill, the invading forces did. The border region of the plane of fire was extinguished, it's burning lands had been put out by the winds of the hurricane, and the djinni forces moved in to maintain the storms, keeping the fire from returning. In order to maintain the new border, the djinni had to move towards the edge of the extinguished area, and here they met significantly more resistance, the other warbands had come. The djinni forces moved beyond the newly created border, trying to exterminate enemy forces before they reached the barrier where the still vulnerable border was being maintained. The invasion force suffered heavy casualties in the battles beyond the new border as they were no longer supported by the hurricane, and the amount of efreeti warbands and other beings within the Plane Of Fire who came to fight were much greater than the djinni anticipated.   The plane of water had it's border regions drained of water, a feat many believed impossible, but the djinni also knew that in order to maintain this newly created space would take incredible amounts of magical energy. The invasion force for the plane of water was not as big as the one for the plane of fire, however they still had large amounts of djinni to maintain the new barrier. The border region was already under djinni control thanks to it's slave colonies, so the new forces simply moved deeper into the plane of water, looking for inhabitants who escaped the death that was the hurricane. The djinni expected little marid resistance, due to the marid being few in number near the border, having been enslaved, killed or pushed back by the djinni. The djinni failed to listen to the marid slaves they brought for the invasion, the warnings of the beasts who lived beyond the border were dismissed as rambling and lies. All the forces who moved beyond the border region and into the deeper oceans were never heard from again, seemingly killed by the beasts who were simply too big to live close to the border which the djinni had grown to believe represented the whole of the plane of water.   The djinni hoped to create a new border, thereby expanding their own plane, making the plane of air larger than it naturally was by taking from the other planes. They believed that this was possible due to a wrongful belief that the elemental planes were something you could tame and control. During the initial invasion the different courts who were not in the plan were surrounded by djinni forces, with orders to kill anyone who tried to leave, essentially trapping any opponents to the plan, including Isha The Magnificent.   The first month went fairly well for the djinni, having killed countless of the other inhabitants and maintaining the new borders well. The invasion forces began facing trouble when the plane of water began costing more lives than they had anticipated, and the border became harder to maintain due to marid counter attacks. The marid, now having gathered near the border, protected by the great beasts of the oceans, began poking holes in the border with their own magic. The djinni committed more forces to the plane of water, taking from the reinforcements meant for the plane of fire.   After two months, the djinni began questioning why their barriers were not getting any easier to maintain as they had hoped, the planes had not at all become used to the new border, and were just as hard to maintain with magic as they were in the beginning. The invasion force in the plane of fire began suffering heavy casualties when the dao showed up fighting alongside the efreeti. The djinni believed the dao would have stayed out of the fighting since none of it was happening near them, and afterwards the djinni would be powerful enough to threaten the dao, forcing any deal they could want after the war.   The dao had not brought any of the creatures from the plane of earth, the dao believed that since they alone chose to fight against the djinni they could not ask others to join them. The dao were exactly the reinforcements the efreeti and the rest of the plane of fire needed, now they had enough magical firepower to begin pushing against the barrier while still fighting the invasion forces.    The last few reinforcements the djinni had left were guarding the "traitor" djinni courts, and these were now sent to fight against the combined efreeti and dao forces. This was the final nail in the coffin for the cleansing, Isha The Magnificent began teleporting marid and other plane of water beasts into her domain.    On the fourth month, the djinni were horrified to see an army fly from Isha The Magnificent's domain, the marid warriors were carried by flying beasts who served Isha The Magnificent. The marid had brought a handful of the great beasts of the oceans, creatures larger than anything the djinni had ever seen, carried by great wings who blocked out almost all light, wings temporarily gifted to the beasts by Isha The Magnificent  The djinni had nothing left with which to defend themselves, and the war ended quickly thereafter. Most of the leaders of the cleansing were executed during some of the greatest genie gatherings ever seen, during these gatherings the collapse of the new borders were celebrated, and the planes returned to their normal state.   Many historians believe that even if the hurricane and subsequent invasion was successful, the djinni would have failed later, the planes themselves would not have allowed those changes to remain forever. In the end the borders would have returned to normal no matter what.
